kinda half missed the consolation goal. On the whole not great
from Argentina, nice goal from Messi though. Felt he was bit
greedy at the end though when he hit side netting. Meh. Off
to bed.

I was VERY surprised that the Swiss are ranked 6 in the world.
Commentator said it and I thought I had misheard. Checked it
out and sure enough they are..

that is basicly because they had a very easy qualifying poule,
so they won most of their games which ranked them up quickly.
Nevertheless it could be a good team tho. Great players.
Sometimes I am wondering what teams like Honduras are doing on a
WC, especially if teams like Sweden (IBRAAAAAAA) are absent. I
know that there needs to be teams from around the globe but
still it is shame that he is not there.

I am definitely with you re: the best talent at the WORLD cup
rather than it being representative of the world.
Coming from SA, it was obviously great for them to host, but
they never even got out of the group! By that stage I was
already in NZ, and then there was massive hype when they
qualified & were the only unbeaten team in the competition ::)
But c'mon ... 3 draws & they never got out the group either.
Just not good enough IMO.
Should there be 2 tiers ... maybe even 3 or 4. Promotion &
relegation across those various ones? Or is that just way too
complex? :D

well, they can always ask you to make a spreadsheet for it :D
But yeah that is how the Ice hockey WC works, A, B and C
groups...

i think this is a Fifa legacy, sure its good to be inclusive and
have a global competition, but i think the driving force for the
greater number of teams from each continent is down to fifa
fishing for votes rather than having more of the best teams in
the world present.
