An OK draw for Holland, we should qualify for the next round and
if we don't it's not a real loss, a lot of new young players
means they're not good enough yet. second round probably Brasil
and that is the end of the line.
Group A and G are the strong ones, After Brasil there isn't much
between the other three, I liked Ghana the last WC, they could
upset Germany or Portugal.
Annoying easy draw for France, should have been in pot 2 but
fifa decides to change the rules and they get a real easy draw.
And a stunning minute of silence for Mandela, after 11 seconds
Blatter says its enough....nice tribute

Been out for the missus' work do. Pretty casual affair & had a
chat to one of the guys who likes his football. Exactly the same
sentiment re: France. How annoying is that?!?!
Re: the Dutch ... yeah - not had a look at history, but
irritating that 2010 finalists are in the same group & like you
say, 2nd place takes on Brazil, in Brazil. Good luck with that
one!

Only seen Englands group. Much wailing and nashing of teeth....
well, ok, shrug of the shoulders pessimism really.
I actually think it's a decent group for them. Low expectations
v Uruguay and Italy and a potentially troublesome 'easy' game
against Costa Rica. It means that they know they're going to
have to perform well to progress and if they get a good result
in one of the 2 big games then it's going to give them a big
lift. Make it out of the group on the back of that and they'll
be buzzing, should give them a focus and togetherness that will
stand them in good stead for R2.
Easy groups are often more tricky for a team in transition, a
bad result and confidence is gone, embarrassment runs very deep.
The toughest groups are the other way, difficult to build
confidence when you know the opposition are much stronger and
your hopes are low. This middling to tough group will provide a
good challenge and offer solid motivation.
The biggest factor is going to be climate and travel, if England
perform very poorly then I think that will be the main culprit.
So, I won't bet on them getting to round 2 but I think they
could do better than most of the people here think.

So spain - holland is localtime of salvador, brasil which means
4 hours later then my localtime, so they play the game 20:00 my
localtime on a friday evening, not bad ;D
Australia - holland, 1 pm in porte alegre is 4 pm my localtime,
which means not a good time because everyone is at work but
impossible for australia to watch that.
Against Chille it is also 4 pm.
first thing tomorrow is planning my days of from work :D
