Bottom line is that I can't decide whether I love it or hate it.
I do love the 'realism'.. the fact that it is less arcady now.
I hate that I can't do it, but that makes me love it more so
when I win...
Last night though, did see a few guys playing it like it was
13... which was very odd.
I just sat there and thought... 'wtf?'
Played off park.
Guess there'll always be people who kick yer ass.
And unless you find a couple of people who you're evenly matched
with, and just play them over and over, then that'll always be
the case.

Bad/Mediocre players will always resort to LB+Y, crossing, and
pace abuse regardless of how less arcade-y it is. That has been
true since FUT10. It is the easiest way to not get your butt
handed to you every single game.

Here here.
See the thing is my gut instinct tells me i do prefer the new
game. Anything that helps eliminate reliance on pace and less
ping pong football and cricket scores has to be good.
Except one problem here. It would appear im not so good at
this new game. Perhaps i was one of the people who relied on
pace too much, always thought i was quite the cultured player.
So yeah, regardless of how improved the game is, its only ever
going to be as good as I am at it. So if im a div 6 journeyman
for the rest of my days, then the game is quite frankly sh1t, i
mean it must be if my football knowledge, experience etc doesnt
translate to in-game performances.

Or you had to adapt to survive the last two fifas and it just
takes time to readjust to the new game.

Thing is clrx i was part of the beta and thought i was doing ok
then. Cruised thru my first batch of games still feeling like
a wise old fifa sage. Then hit div 7, bit early for the wheels
to come off but scrape promotion, then div 6, f**k me im
battling to avoid relegation, wtf has happened.
Not sure i even want to adapt tbh. Beginning to see enough to
tell me that maybe the future isnt so bright after all.
I think i might be more suited to the mindless carnage that is
GTA. Not sure im cut out for the constant turnovers of
possession and total concentration required for FIFA, only to
have it all undone in a moment by giving away a really cheap
corner kick.

lol ... one of the many reasons why I play borderlands 2 as
well. Sometimes, not concentrating and just blowing stuff up is
more fun.

Really useful thread guys, thanks
As you know I'm not an owner of 14 (yet) & suspect I'd be with
Eric & Hopnut on the enjoy the realism but don't get how to be
better at it - I think that's why I was meh over the demo. I
just couldn't 'get it' with Ibra & if I couldn't get it with him
then I feared for my sanity when playing online :D
On the trading front I've hit 100k & completely stalled,
nothing's shifting

I've liked it so far, but they need to tone down headers from
crosses and corners. Had a run of scoring 6 out of 7 corners
which is just too many. Too often corners are simply impossible
to defend.
It's key to stop crosses coming in if at all possible. The
problem is that blocking them often results in a
corner...........
