Jurys out for me, enjoyed the beta, didnt enjoy the first few
seasons of the game. enjoying it a bit more now but still
unconvinced, wouldnt really say i like it or dislike it. I like
it when im winning, but thats isnt overly common at moment.
I wonder if i will grow to hate it more tho as i move up the
ladder. I mean whats it like in div 1 these days, is it just
masters of finesse from anywhere and cross masters? if it is
then it could make the game seem a lot worse.
Then you have to wonder about impact of the patch coming?
I think a lot of the damage might have been done last year tbh.
Ive spent �25 on the game with no urge to spend more.
something not right about that really. or should i say its
actually very right but its not my fifa norm.
Just not really comfortable shelling out money for a game i'm
just not convinced on. I think thats a good thing tho as id be
more likely to get peed off and frustrated if i spent a fortune
on it but wasnt happy with end result.

Thanks Glad and Kiwi! Definitely helps getting tips from you
guys.
But yeah, managed to put together a good string of wins last
night. First 4 game win streak for me (online seasons). Even
though I know it's a much better experience playing in single
online matches, for some reason, I'm drawn to competitive (more
often abusive) online season play.
Changes I made:
Settings -
Auto Switching Move Assistance: High (always had it on low but
noticed player stops for a split second when switching so gave
this a go. not perfect but better)
Passing Power Assistance: ON (again always had this OFF since
I liked controlling the power of my passes but ever since I
turned this on, I've completed more passes. Short passing game
improved)
The other settings I always had on SEMI since I wanted somewhat
more control, but decided to switch everything to assisted
except CROSS ASSISTANCE which I left on Semi
Formation:
Tried 4231, different variants of 433, 352, 41212... but ended
up with 442 with 2 CDMs. Having your wingers and full backs
clog the wings definitely helped tone down the crossing
opportunities from my opponents... the CDMs clog the middle.
But at the end of the day, game still needs to get patched.
Headers are too OP. The most annoying thing is your CBs not
being able to do anything. At one point, I was mashing the
circle button to jump and head out the cross, but still my CB
ended up not doing anything other than watch the other player
head in the ball. Those things annoy me.

Ooh controversial NDP, going largely to assisted controls, thats
generally always been a big no-no of mine, going to have to
investigate what settings i have it on later. Just assume it
carries over from previous years.

Settings do carry over. Like what I said, I had everything on
semi before. Made the tweaks and played better. But yeah,
you're absolutely right. To each his own.
But if you're playing on manual or semi.. does it not give your
opponent a competitive advantage? Don't think it's
controversial at all. The only time it will be fair is if you're
in a manual H2H.

Yeah id say it does, and i dont think thats entirely right. I
think ive said before they could have separate match ups based
on control settings? no idea how you could apply that but i
think fully assisted users should be named and shamed. Perhaps
instead of a club badge they get a red or green L in similar
fashion to learner drivers :D probably my most inspirational
idea of the day

All goo stuff . my view is that we all see the issues in the
game , we just react to them differently . I lost 4 games in
a row only to them win the next 4 . then lost the clincher for
promotion :) . only to then win the next 4 in a row in the new
season . I am def improving and 4-4-2 (2) is a bit help . The
KTZ guide is useful .
made my first hybrid (I guess) and it is the best team i have
used so far . Drogba is an animal - 13 in 6 :)

Losing final 5 and 6 was entirely my own fault, played good, got
into the lead and he got a soft equaliser that send me out of my
comfort zone,
Its a difficult game this year, I played so many games without
needing to concentrate much on what is was doing last year when
i turn off now its an easy goal for my opponent.
My settings are all on semi except lobbed through balls that is
manual, finishing on semi is really much better and easier when
you get the hang of it, but when you play poor, shooting is the
first thing that fails.

Im like that as well Beuk, if i go a goal behind to a cheap goal
(cos those are only type i concede :D ) then i need to
equalise soon after otherwise i resign myself to most likely
getting nothing out of the game.
Conceding goals seems to hit my concentration more than last
year. Dunno why, just dont know that i have the spirit for the
fight as much these days.

Eric - Agree with you, there should be a separate matchmaking
screen for different control settings in UT like they do in H2H
Seasons.
I have played with manual/semi settings ever since but somewhat
struggled this year. Hence, the revision and tweaks lately.
I'm pretty sure I will revert back once I get the hang of
things.
On that note, does everyone here on this lounge play only on
Manual settings?

As far as im aware, noone here plays solely on manual controls.
I tried it once last year, impossible.
