Probably pick up my copy after uni tomorrow, watched a
livestream of it last night, the guy was just free roaming but
in the 20-30 mins I watched he played tennis, rode a blimp then
a plane, used all 3 characters and just went about driving in
some sweet looking cars.

It's pretty immersive. Was thinking hmm this is fun but just
your usual GTA .. then realised I'd been playing for about 4
hours :o
Graphics are smooth and the interlinked stories are a nice
addition. Not sure about all the 'game of the decade' hyperbole
just yet, but it's probably too early to judge tbf.
Be interested to hear what others think once they've given it a
run.
I'd forgotten how bad I am at driving on this game too :-[

Had time for an hour on it then. Felt like 10 minutes, lol.
Couple of nice get-to-know-you missions you get thrown into. Was
a complete amateur with the shooting and driving to begin with,
I'm unused to not knowing the controls. Kept diving out of cover
and wildly spraying the rifle, did get to grips with it
eventually. Threw myself out of the car with a button mash and
failed the 2nd mission, restarted and ended up driving it off a
bridge and onto it's roof while evading the law the 2nd time...
1st impressions were that everything is nicely smooth and
chunky, there's a good feeling of weight to things and the sound
of everything seemed strong. GTA IV was a bit floaty at times.
Environment is very deep and detailed. FIFA13 just bit the dust
:D
Dialogue is classic GTA, definitely too profane to play with the
elder boy around, even if I'm not getting weapons out. Was even
a little concerned for the innocence of the 18mth old that was
patrolling the room...
Character animation in the cut scenes was a little disappointing
to start with but that's always gonna be the case I think,
realism of faces is gonna be weird no matter how close to
reality they get.
So, after a sleep/save I'm let loose with Franklyn in the hood.
1st thing I do is change my clothes, sit on the sofa, watch a
bit of telly and smoke some weed. Explore the house, try and get
in the fridge but only end up drinking a beer. Try to find the
iFruit app on my phone but can't so I head out for a stroll.
Really like the feel of the guy, sloping round the streets.
I pass some gangbangers giving it all the chat. I'm unarmed so I
aim to jack a car, hoping to be able to run them down and get a
gun off them, or some money. By the time I've chucked some
people out the back of a cab, climbed in the back, got out, let
the taxi drive off by accident and jacked a nice Mustang
instead, they've gone.
Buzz around in that motor for a bit, listening to the latino
station. Feels really different to the sports cars you start of
with, nice muscle car edge to it. Got more control with a bit
more practise and handbrake spam.
Spot a bus so change to that and take it for a spin down the
freeway, cracking range of vehicles out and about, resist
switching to a cement mixer and take to the railway track
instead. Manage to avoid a couple of trains and end up at the
dock.
Water looks fabulous, waves crashing and foaming. Give up trying
to walk around to some moorings I see so I jump in and swim for
it. Have a fair bit of trouble getting out again, seems I can't
climb out onto jetties so have to find a ladder. There's a small
boat/dinghy thing there so I head out in that for some aimless
meandering, reggae station on. Nice.
Find a shed with a huge tug in it so exit the dinghy into the
sea and I'm wearing scuba gear!. Eventually manage to find a way
onto the tug but can't seem to get in the bridge to drive it.
Missus comes home with the eldest and I have to turn it off :'(
Yeah man, I'm hooked!
Tonight, I will mostly be free roaming Los Santos. ;D
