1-1. A howler of an OG for Latvia.

Awful game, a real drop in quality when the Women have a few
players missing, same old NI problem, don't have anybody who can
score goals.

Finished 3-1 to NI, courtesy of another howler of an OG by
Latvia on 86 mins, and a third OG in injury time! (Though I
thought Caragh Hamilton shoulf have been credited with the last
one)
As for our lack of goals, when missing Magill, Furness and Wade,
we were always going to struggle.
Beyond that, i really do think there was an element of "After
the Lord Mayor's Show" to our last two performances, not helped
by reverting to part-time from full-time for most of the
players.
Id say that iif you have to learn how to qualify for
tournaments, and learn again how to contest them when actually
there, then I guess you have to learrn how to go again after
they're over, esp if introducing new players, as KS has.

3-1 win in the end but helped hugely by 2 own goals by Latvia.
Their goalkeeper ended up with a goal and an assist for us.
It was a very poor performance by us. Disjoined, low energy,
lacking in any clear discernible strategy ... but we ended up
with another win. 6 wins from a qualifying group is decent. It's
easy to say that they were against weak opposition but we've all
seen our men's team fail to beat weaker opposition on many
occasions!
Edit: Just seen EalingGreen's post saying there were 3 own goals
but that the 3rd one should have been credited to Caragh
Hamilton. To me, that definitely looked like Hamilton's goal - a
bit harsh on the Latvians if it's also classed as an own goal!

There certainly seems to be a steel about this group. In the
past we probably would have dropped points in these games, but
they keep going and ground out the results despite not being at
their best. If only the men's team could do the same!

I love to see Our wee Country do well in any sport in which we
compete, including women's football but..............
the standard of football really is very poor. I know it's not
the done thing to state this publicly but oh dear. An
international match played in what looked like a public park,
watched by 3 men and a dog. We win after the opposition score 3
own goals.
Equal pay for women in football - maybe not just yet!
Sorry for offending anyone but it's just my humble opinion.

Women's football in Northern Ireland is improving, but it is
still in it's infancy here. We just need to keep supporting it
and the money will flow to help it improve.

Looking from this angle in slomo it's definitely another
goalkeeping howler:
