Euro's Squad Update: F-T training and Spanish camp etc

Kenny looking to take the girls to the next level:

I must say, the NI-based players not playing regular club
football in the run-up to the Finals seems a bit odd to me, but
presumably Kenny feels they'll get enough match practice via
international friendlies and qualifiers etc in the meantime.
Possibly also doesn't particularly rate the standard of the NI
Womens League either?

Have a vague recollection that a men's team did something
similar ahead of hosting a major event? Maybe USA ahead of World
Cup 94 or japan ahead of 02?

Good recall, but you may be thinking about the 2002 World Cup
Finals, co-hosted by Japan and Korea, where the latter had a 5
month pre-Finals training camp under Guus Hiddinck, including 15
international matches?

And I think the USA WNT also takes players for long training
camps - they certainly play a lot of internationals, including
to qualify/prepare for both World Cup and Olympic Finals i.e.
every other year.
It's certainly a novel initiative by NI for this summer's
Euro's. I don't imagine the NI-based players play so many games
in our domestic league anyhow, nor to a high standard, so
probably aren't missing out on a great deal in that respect.
While the extra physical benefits of f-t training must surely
stand to them. Certainly they suffered during the recent game
against England at Wembley, when they held them to 0-0 for
nearly an hour, before being overwhelmed to lose 4-0 in the last
half hour (it could have been worse but for our gk)

Going by the twitter feed both the Swiss goals came from
defensive errors from Northern Ireland

Remember the time when Northern Ireland Women won one game in 6
or 7 years or something ridiculous like that, we literally were
rubbish and now qualifying for the Euros and beating teams all
over the place! It's a transformation which is hard to believe
although credit to the IFA who started to take it seriously and
got rid of the amateur mindset and rejuvenated the whole set up
with Kenny Shiels and his staff which has paid off big time.
