The Domestic Trophy Slam
By: jcd Date: May 16, 2021, 6:12 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Jonny Evans is the first NI player to win all three English
trophies in his career.
3 League titles and 2 League Cups with Man Utd and yesterday's
FA Cup win with Leicester.
If you go back to the days before the League Cup, then there are
four players who won the two available trophies in their career
Jack Reynolds
Bill McCracken
Johnny Carey
Billy Cook
Danny Blanchflower's career did run into the League Cup era, but
he never played in the tournament, so he could be added to this
four.
In the three domestic trophy era five players have fallen one
short
Pat Jennings and Peter McParland (no League title)
Martin O'Neill (no FA Cup)
Pat Rice and Roy Carroll (no League Cup)
The Irish League will have multiple Slammers, and I'll go
through the Scottish trophies later.
