Don't worry, Kenny will spin it into some sort of moral victory,
that's not what they needed going into a play off, best
       forgotten about.

I'm not so sure it need be forgotten (written off).
For one thing, it was a get-together at St.George's Park for a
few days, which has to be beneficial. And they were also missing
a few players who couldn't get time off work etc to travel over,
meaning Shiels was able to introduce a few new faces to the
       squad.
And tactically, instead of just shutting up shop (to keep the
score down), they appear to have kept on trying to play out from
the back. This probably cost them a few goals, but should also
stand to them in the play-offs.
So if the players can treat today's game like eg a League One
team up against Premier League opposition, and not get too
downhearted, it could help them in the play-offs, where the
opposition is more likely to be, say, Championship standard i.e.
       tough but still beatable.

"Kenny Shiels' depleted Northern Ireland failed to register a
shot of any description but will now focus on the more pressing
task of qualification for next year's Euros, when they play in
       April's play-off."
"Northern Ireland manager Kenny Shiels: "There were some
positives and some negatives. England are stronger and quicker
than us and that was a big obstacle for us to overcome.
"We lost the toss and they had the wind in their favour. That
took away our opportunity to get some confidence. They were all
over us and we couldn't get up the pitch.
"When we had the wind in the second half, we have so many
part-time players that we used up their energy. It was
unfortunate but the result doesn't matter. We found out about
each other and the understanding how how we want to play."

Not yet, the draw is on Fri. 5th March - six teams in a straight
home and away tie, with the three winners to go through to the
       finals in England next year.
So far five p/o teams are known: Czech Rep, Russia, Portugal,
       Ukraine and Our Wee Women:

I'm with EG. The friendly was worthwhile- you improve by playing
       better teams.
Switzerland should complete the play off teams

Usually a bit of an excuse, but it is a fair one. Even if they
wanted to clear long down the channels to relieve pressure, the
wind would have blown it straight back or out. When you know
you're going to be up against it, winning the toss on a day like
       that is key.
The gulf in class was huge though, and England passed it around
       so easily.
