Think I'll work on a few more of these - any suggestions?

Oh, I like that.
The 70's were a bit barren from the perspective of a regular
scorer.
Dougan and Best flashed up in the very early 70's, then
nothing until Armstrong crashed the list in the 80's.
I suppose caps would be the other obvious one.

This took a long time and I'm not happy with the overall data,
but here you go.

I do love animated graphs. Nice work.
As Clint says, you can really see the barrenness in the 70s.
Then Healy racing ahead at the end. And the gradual climb of
Davis in the appearance graph.
Not sure if you would have the players' club status information,
but capped players contracted to clubs within English divisions
1-4, Scottish (top) division, and Irish League would be cool. Of
course we have an idea how that would look, but to physically
see it would be interesting (I'm geeky enough to give it a go
but don't have the data).

Nearly what you asked for, just based on the stats I can quickly
extract...

Great work [emoji106]
You would think Aaron Hughes would be up there, but then he was
really only a regular at Fulham. More bit-part at Newcastle and
at Villa was rotated with Mark Delaney quite a bit.
