Who was the Ireland captain vs Wales on 8th February 1890?

I was looking at info from Ireland's early matches, using this
site,

One thing that I noticed is that no captain is listed for the
away match against Wales on the 8th of February 1890. Wonder if
anyone on this site might know?
The team was

R.Stewart
Billy Crone

S.Johnston
S.Torrans

Ah, that's frustrating. No real clues either from looking at the
before and after matches as the captains in both of those games
(Stanfield and Ellerman respectively) didn't play in that match!
And whoever was captain that day was captain for the first time
as non of the preceding captain was in the team

Great minds and all that ;D i am currently working on captaincy
data for all our games and it is a bit of a slog, especially the
early games and some of the mid 60's and the late 70's games. On
some games it is very hard to get a consensus on who captained
us. I currently have 8 games with no captaincy data your game in
1890 is one of them.

Back in the day you could flick through back issues of the Bel
Tel, News Letter etc in the Central Library.
If that's still an option, you might find what you're after in
there.

When researching this game I looked through the Welsh papers and
couldn't find any reference to who the captain was, very
frustrating as the Welsh captain was listed. Here are the
newspaper reports i found

I had a look through my records and searched Belfast News Letter
and Belfast Telegraph for around that date and found nothing.
