What G. K. Chesterton said about the church is correct.
Marc Hanna, where should the line be drawn then?
Homosexuality backtracked as a sin should IMHO be a valid enough
       reason to break communion.
I mean if the dissagrements are that fundamental I cant help
thinking that communion between the two fractions gives a false
       picture of union.
A union that don't exist anymore...
But I suppose you may be right and that laymen feeling
differently are the one who has to move elsewhere, a shame if it
       happens though...

One of the issues that the fathers disagreed on is how man is
deified. The Alexandrian and Cappadocian fathers taught very
different theologies here, but ultimately much of this knowledge
was beyond what was necessary for the faith, and so they didn't
engage in disputes over it. More critical was the understanding
of the Nature of Christ, which plagued the church with
controversy for 175 years until schism occurred.
There is a line to be drawn of course, but when we draw too many
lines, we set ourselves up for failure. There are clearly those
things which are sins, and the church can never condone them, or
teach otherwise. So as not to get into a polemical debate, I
will remain vague: when we develop too many theologies and
develop them too much, those who disagree with them we call
heretics, but meanwhile we walk a dangerous line because we
proclaim to know so much about God. Doctrine and dogma should
not be developed for the sake of developing it, we should follow
the fathers and only developing it out of the sake of necessity
as in the case with a new heretical teaching.
The Catholic church is a moderately progressive church; her
theology allows for it. If one wants a church that is stuck in
time, one should look at the Orthodox churches.
But yes, I agree that questioning the status of homosexually as
a sin is definitely grounds for schism.

AFAIK, Homosexuality, or SS attraction, is not in itself a sin
in the Catholic Church. It is the homosexual actions which are
       sinful.

Yes, but to say that homosexual relationship has positive
attributes to offer the church is something totally different
       however.
To willfully live in near occasion of sin is in and of itself a
       sin too.
So to sum up, caste homosexual relationship is sinful because it
is saying yes to the temptation.
Further more it's a mockery of the institution of marriage.
Raising children in these kinds of constilations is damaging to
       the child.
Anyway, that this even is a topic in the church saddens me to be
       honest.
I pray that our church lands on her feet as allways, but I'm
       unsure this time...

A homosexual relationship is only such if it is sexual. Some
people may be inflicted with this temptation but this is their
       cross to bear.
Intercourse outside of wedlock is a sin, regardless of the sex
of the two individuals. This is where Satan has been
particularly sly: first sex between unmarried heterosexual
couples became socially acceptable, then the legalization of SS
marriages on account of the violation of their civil rights.

All of us called to be dispassionate, to bring our passions
under control, and to strive for theosis or the unitive way.
Man was created to praise, worship, and bless God. Our vocal
folds and pharynx was created to chant and sing heavenly hymns
       with the Angelic Choirs.
This tendency to conform to the world is alien to Christianity.
We are to conform ourselves to Christ.

This is why Russia stopped the adoption of Russian children by
Americans. They had no control over whether the adopting couple
       was SS.

There was also the notorious incident where an adoptive couple
in the USA simply decided they did not like their Russian child
and so sent him back to Russia unaccompanied with a simple note
       appended to his clothing.

[/quote]Yes. And there was a case of an adopted child who was
molested by his American SS adoptive parents.
