That article just proves that the writer knows less about old
Celtic beliefs than the average westerner knows about old
Russian beliefs.

That thing was written by an Orthodox priest? I hoped they'd be
better informed and not recycle Evangelical hogwash.

Strawman fallacy?
Two Orthodox Clergy, one with the Coptic Church and the other
with the ROCOR, have now been attacked for writing articles
against diabolical practices of pagan priests to appease
Samhain, the Prince of Death. Is their information wrong? If so,
please prove it.

Nobody's attacked, only called out on misinformation. I'm sure
it's out of ignorance, not malice.

The first reference you linked above is very nebulous and
ambiguous in the information it provides. However, this excerpt
below is very telling. Obviously the person(s) who wrote this
information is biased in favor of wiccans and other neopagans.
That the celtic gods are pagan is enough for sober and watchful
Orthodox Christian Priests to be alarmed and warn the faithful
against celebrating Halloween so that their flocks will not fall
into pagan beliefs and celebrations.
Wiccans and some other Neopagans base much of their
religious faith on the religion of the Celts. They continue to
celebrate Samhain today.
The first article is a pretty straightforward collection of
Halloween customs and their origins. Sorry if it lacked the
luridness you expected.
Yes, pagan gods are pagan, way to state the obvious. A handful
of late-20th-century people trying to reconstruct Celtic
religion don't really change traditions established several
centuries before.
Do you have anything to comment on the second article?

No, the second link is just a regurgitation of the first.
Again, a careful reading of both articles shows the bias in
favor of wiccans and Neo-Pagans.

You should read more carefully. There's little in common between
the two articles.
The important bits, though, are:
1 - Samhain is an event, not a person
2 - there's no such thing as a 'Prince of Death'
3 - there's zero proof of human sacrifice by Druids, at Samhain
or any other time of the year
Objecting to Halloween, or anything else, on fabricated "data"
only suggests you can't find any real reasons for your
objection. That's not fair. Try a bit harder.

I'm not sure your sources are reliable - not criticizing
correctness - several of their references were dead links

Sites die, domains are moved. The article, if you scroll down to
the copyright notices, was first published in 1998. The book
references are solid, if someone cares enough to spend time on
them. Ronald Hutton is the greatest authority we have on the
subject of early British culture and practices, but if you
approach him hoping to find out about Druids and wicker men, you
will be disappointed.
