Post reactions - The Holy Synod of Bishops 2014
By: FaithfulDespiteDoubt Date: October 25, 2014, 3:23 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
As we all know, there have recently been a Holy Synod of
Cardinals at the Vatican due to the wish of Pope Francis last
autumn.
To say this synod has been controversial is no overstatement.
It has been a rollercoaster for me personally and Im sure Im not
the only one to feel this way.
The wind of change are blowing thru the Vatican now that Francis
are our Holy Father and its not easy to adopt to his pontificate
to be honest.
Pope JP2 and Pope Benedict 16s time in the Holy See where very
different from Our current popes way of getting things done.
Where our former Popes seemed to take an conservative way of
leadership our new pope seems to be more progressive so far in
his time as Pope.
There are clearly advantages with the current popes way of
leading the church to mention some, It will most definitely help
lost sheep find the way back
to the Body of Christ something we all should allways strive to
do.
The downside of this more "leniant approach" is that some of the
faithfuls have been frusterated and afraid that the Catechism of
the Church are being contradicted something that would lead to
HUGE issues within the Catholic Church as our entire Church are
build upon the promiss of Christ.
If it contradict itself at some point it will be very hard to
defend our faith.
Anyway sorry for my rant, please join in on this thread with
your reactions on the Synod.
God Bless!

One question which came up concerned giving Holy Communion to
those Roman Catholics currently not admitted to receive under
the present rules, such as divorced people or people in a SS
marriage situation. The Orthodox Churches allow everyone to
receive blessed bread at the end of liturgy. Perhaps the Roman
Catholics could add that to the end of the Mass, so that
everyone without exception could receive the blessed bread,
which is not Holy Communion, but at the same time it can be
regarded as a sacramental symbol representing the hope that
people will follow Christ.

To continue the discussion of Antidoron, please visit:

Interesting remark about the potential use of Antidoron for
divorced Catholics and those in SS marriages.
Is there a link that suggests this practice?

Agreed, I think progressive is better.
The idea of Antidoron is an interesting one that in my opinion
could work as some sort of compromise.
Exciting proporsial.

I liked the Old Mass way better even as an Orthodox. The
Antidoron I can see happening and actually would be kind of
happy about.

Yes I agree, I would love for the old tridentine mass to become
the ordinary form again, but that ship is sailed long ago:(
Sure Novus Ordo is fine and a more than valid form of the mass,
but the unity prior to V2 when everywhere you go you would be
able to partake and understand the local mass either it was held
in South Africa or in Hanoi you could sing along. Beautiful!
Being only 24 years old I have only heard older Catholics talk
about it and mostly it's positive.
Ahh, now you got me all nostalgic Kaleab....

same with me, I find it hard to adjust to his pontificate but
then again, I haven't found anything particularly wrong with it
so far. He just seems to want to do things differently from what
I can tell and change the public image of the Church
[quote]Pope JP2 and Pope Benedict 16s time in the Holy See where

I still cant tell his stance to be honest. He never really
stated his position at the Holy Synod and although he pastorally
seems progressive, doctrinally he seems conservative or in his
own words "a son of the church"

I totally agree. However I really doubt he will issue doctrinal
changes after next years synod as the majority of synod bishops
at this years Synod were against Cardinal Kasper's proposal. Add
to this that at next years ordinary synod, even more
'conservative' bishops from Africa and Asia will be present
which will further dent the proposal of cardinal Kasper and his
minority group of supporters.

its an interesting idea that should be further looked into. its
not a breach of doctrine and it allows those in irregular sexual
situations to participate in the life of the church to a certain
degree. :)
