Ethiopian Wedding

I had the pleasure of attending a mixed Coptic/Ethiopian wedding
in September.
I thoroughly enjoyed the traditional Ethiopian components at the
reception, particularly the palms and folk song that was sung
when the bride and groom arrived. Fortunately a good friend of
mine who is Eritrean was there and could explain everything to
me, such as the super-sweet liquor made from honey that was on
each of the tables - WOW! That stuff is powerful!
I have seen videos of Eritrean/Ethiopian Liturgies but have not
actually attended one yet. Definitely on my to do list.

It's certainly enjoyable, but only in small doses. :)

No that is used for liturgy, but Bc/ of the sake of the church
members my priest does it in Amharicz

I know a couple of Eritreans who speak Ge'ez, but it seems the
issue is universal, where Orthodox churches are resisting
praying the liturgy in the native languages of the countries in
which they are in.

Well Amharic is the national language. But Ge'ez is the
traditional language.

Any witness of a Holy Sacrament is a beautiful event. May we
not take these gifts from God lightly.
Doxa si Kyrie!
