Welcome to Orthodox Talk! We would love you to join us and this
soon to be great community. I should start off saying my name is
Kaleab the creator and Admin. If you should have any questions
or comments then please contact Global Moderators, if you have
questions about your board and its rules please contact the
moderator for that board. Come join and lets have some
discussions! But now to the rules:
Orthodox Talk is a forum committed to fostering community among
fellow Orthodox believers and helping each other in our struggle
for salvation, and also in reaching out to members of the
Orthodox churches or other denominations, religions or
philosophies. We welcome questions, discussions and even
disagreements but there must be limits.
General rules:
- No personal attacks
- No baiting or flaming
- No gossip, slander or unsupported attacks on the character of
those outside the forum
- No links to personal blogs or websites that contain gossip or
defamation. Please read the blog before posting it to insure
that there is no gossip anywhere. News media speculation should
be posted in the private political forum.
- International Copyright rules dictates that all posts
containing material from external sites MUST be linked or
referenced to.
- No explicit discussion of sexual matters
- No blasphemy, foul or inflammatory language
- No posting of spam or ****ography (incurs immediate permanent
ban)
- No questioning or challenging of moderatorial actions
- Copyright rules apply. If you copy material from AP or
Reuters, please only quote one sentence and provide a link to
that material. Do not paraphrase any material from AP or Reuters
as that is likewise forbidden. If you copy material from
websites, kindly limit the quote to two paragraphs or no more
than 10 percent of the article providing a link to the website
and mentioning the author. If you copy material from a book or
magazine, limit your quote to two paragraphs (not an entire
page), and provide the title of the book, the author, the
publisher, and the page number. If you use Google Translator,
provide both the original article and the translation, giving
proper credit were due.
Note: AP and Reuters will actively prosecute boards which
violate their copyrights.
Moderators may be lenient towards new users and send informal
warnings by private message before imposing a formal, public
warning.
Moderators reserve the right to edit or remove offending posts
in order to conform to these rules.
Members have the right to contact an administrator or moderator
privately to discuss a warning, ban or other moderatorial
decision.
Any attempt to skirt a temporary or permanent ban will incur
immediate permanent banning.
All members should try to stay on topic when posting a response.
If a post could possibly derail a topic, then please be polite
and start a new thread.
Never attack posters using troll images, etc.
In discussions, try to avoid "you" pronouns as they invariably
lead to an attack against a person. Instead, address the topic
at hand.
Duplicate Accounts, Forgotten Passwords, and Deleting Accounts
-- If you forget your password, use the "forget password"
feature, or contact an Administrator. Do NOT create a new
account because you cannot/forgot how to log in! Due to blatant
disregard for this rule in the past, violators WILL be banned.
Account sharing or acting as surrogate posters for those who
have limited posting privileges (banned, muted, or post
moderated users) are also prohibited and are bannable offenses.
If you decide to stop posting, we do not delete accounts (it has
caused database problems). If you choose to stop posting and
want it to be obvious, please consider writing "I no longer post
on this forum" in your signature line. There is one exception,
and that is if someone is stalking you and using your user
account as a way to harass you, we will consider deletion
options in this case only.
Appeals Pathway
All appeals to be conducted via PM, and in the proper order, as
outlined below.
This procedure should be followed in all cases, and involves as
its first step communicating directly with the person who issued
the warning to you (or performed some other action in an
official capacity, like moving or locking a topic you started).
If you choose to skip steps within the appropriate pathway, then
you also give up your right to appeal the decision to anyone
further.
If you are appealing to Kaleab, understand that he may choose
not to hear/consider your appeal (in similar fashion to the
Supreme Court).
1. When appealing a moderator's action / warning:
PM the Moderator who issued the warning/action (yes, PM them
directly about the warning/action) -> The Global Moderator who
oversees their section -> (final appeal) Administrator of the
Forum.
2. When appealing a Global Moderator's action / warning:
PM the Global Moderator who issued the warning/action -> (final
appeal) Administrator of the Forum
3. When appealing the Forum Administrator's action / warning:
Kaleab has last and final say ;D
