Ever Dream [open, eve.]

The newly returned goddess moved through the forest on silent
feet. Music in her head bounced around at fast paces. Her hand
holds that of her daughter, and her voice raises in song. "Sweet
little words made for silence, not talk. Young hearts for love,
not heartache. Dark hair for catching the wind, not to blind the
sight of a cold world. Kiss while your lips are still red. While
he's still silent, rest. While bosom is still untouched,
unveiled. Hold another hand, while a hand is without a tool.
Drown into eyes while they're so blind. Love while the night
still hides the withering dawn." Her steps continued, measured.
"First day of love never comes back. A passionate hour's never a
wasted one. So many memories fill my eyes. The first time we
kissed, the times we've nearly said goodbye. Still here we are,
tested and tried and still true. And stronger than we ever knew.
Love is all, the laughter and the tears that fall. The mundane
and the magical. The careless word, the healing touch, the
getting and the giving of. Love is all. There's a me you've
always known, the me that's a stranger still. The you that feels
like home, and the you that never will." She paused in the
singing, as if she waited for an answer. Her free hand fell to
rub a palm over the swell of her stomach.

Miles was perched a ways above the two, keeping them in sight.
As she paused, he slowly hung upside down on a web, stopping
where their faces met.
"Your right. We are stronger than ever, aren't we? But, there is
as much bad as there is good, but the good times made us strong,
the bad times only made us stronger. Remember that day where you
doubted if everything I told you was true, and then, you found
out my whole story. That made us ten times stronger. The time we
were in the fates. I forgot you, but my love was so strong that
I came back. Skip a few days, and then my world crumbles. I
died. For you. That made us stronger than I could ever imagine.
It taught me that time didn't matter, when you really love
someone. And I love you."

She blinked, smiling slightly at the spider that dangled in
front of her. Kaya covered their daughter's eyes, laughing
softly at her put upon sigh, before she leaned up, kissing his
mouth softly. "So we never forget the way we were before. When
we came alive at the moment that we met. It's still worth
fighting for. It's worth defending a tiny glimpse of what it
would take to make us better yet." She said against his mouth,
ocean eyes open and on his.
"You're all that I need. Tell me you'll still believe. I can't
undo the things that led us to this place, but I know there's
something more to us than our mistakes. Like a dream I had in
subconscious deep, here you came again only when I sleep. And I
remembered you. Like a memory of a time gone by, many things
I've seen. Still I can't deny, that I remember you." She rubbed
cheek to cheek with him.
"Yes, I remember you. When you say my name, when you hold my
hand. When you touch me softly in the way that only you can do.
I remember you. I would recognize your shadow in a crowded room.
Change your name a million times, it wouldn't change my mind."
She gave him another kiss to a chorus of disgust from their
daughter.

The spider smiled as the kiss was returned. He looked at their
daughter, smiling, and poked her nose.
"Live in my house. I'll be your shelter. Just pay me back. With
one thousand kisses. Be my lover, and I'll cover you. I should
tell you, I'm disaster.. I forget how to begin it." He laid a
kiss on her forehead.

Much as her mother might have, Charlotte swatted at the finger
poking her nose, and stuck her tongue out at her father. One
goddess watched this and laughed softly. She reached up,
tickling his sides to help his daughter retaliate.
She smiled softly. "Let's just make this part go faster. I have
yet to be in it. I should tell you that I blew the candle out
just to get back in. But I'd die without you. Sweet kisses, I've
got plenty, and I'll cover you. Five hundred twenty five
thousand six hundred seasons of love." Rent always one of their
favorites to quote.

He smiled and finally stood right side up. He picked up
Charlotte, who cuddled him. He smiled and took Kaya's hand,
smiling.
"I've got the whole world in my hands right now. I don't know
what I would do if I lost it."

She squeezed his hand. "You don't remember me, but I remember
you. I lay awake and tried so hard not to think of you. But who
can decide what they dream, and dream I do. I believe in you.
I'd give up everything just to find you. I have to be with you.
To live, to breathe, you're taking over me.
You saw me mourning my love for you, and touched my hand. I knew
you loved me then. I look in the mirror and see your face, if I
look deep enough." She said, the words haunting. It described
near to perfectly a part of their past that was still vaguely
painful.

Her words struck Miles deep. He looked at her, with tear filled
eyes. He gave her hands a tight squeeze, and pulled her close to
him. His voice was a whisper.
"If I had the chance to do it again, I wouldn't change a thing.
I don't think we would be here if I did."

She turned her face into his neck, her arms wrapping around him,
taller than he had been. They were both older than the people
they'd been here. 5 years of marriage, a daughter. a life being
lived. "If I could stop time, believe me, I'd try for you and I.
Stay right here, right now. Without you, I'm a disaster. You're
my ever after. The thought of you gone makes everything wrong in
my life. I'd die every day that you're away from me." She
whispered to him, the words ones that she'd spoken at some point
to him before. In a time when a different choice had been made.
Her hands came to cradle his face, and she smiled at him. "All
along, I was yours to hold. Meet me after dark again, and I'll
hold you. I want nothing more than to see you there. Maybe
tonight, we'll fly so far away. We'll be lost before the dawn.
Somehow I know that we can't wake again from this dream. It's
not real, but it's ours."
She touched noses with him, a playful and sweet gesture.
"Nothing you can say, but you can learn how to play. It's easy.
All you need is love. Close your eyes and I'll kiss you.
Tomorrow I'll miss you. Remember, I'll always be true." Between
them, stirred by his mother's voice, the child kicked.
