The color completely drained from Mika's face. What had she
gotten herself into, had she really needed to come back to
explore this place. She shook her head quickly dislodging the
should have thoughts. She looked at Hunter willing them to
continue on. "Will you know if it gets close? All I pick up on
in here is feelings of being watched every so often." Her
whisper was soft, but obviously distraught.

He nodded his head. The little boy looked as if he wanted to
comfort Mika, but couldn't figure out how to do so. He gestured
with a jerk of his head for her to open the door. His little boy
eyes darted around, seeming very aware. It was sad that a child
       had to fear such things.

Mika's eyes filled with a sad look at the boys fear. She
understood his fear, she spent her childhood surrounded by it
between her father and the orphanage. She understood what he
was asking her to do. She opened the door as slowly and quietly
as she could. She peered her head through the door cautiously,
looking to see if she could see anything. She wanted to say
something but feared speaking would draw whatever was after her
       closer.

As she peers around, there is nothing but dancing shadow, and
heavy silence. He simply passes through the door, and awaits her
on the other side. He is peering around very cautiously. He
waits for Mika to start down the stairs ahead of him, moving
like a sentry behind her to guard her back. It's the sort of
action that is awe inspiring and sad. A boy so young, willing to
       protect.
The stairwell's shadows flung themselves around, as if
somewhere, a candle was lit whose flame swayed and moved. That
heavy silence settled about the shoulders like an uncomfortable
       mantle.

Mika continued down the stairs keeping an eye on the dancing
shadows. Despite her uneasy feelings in the stairwell the fact
that hunter was protecting her calmed her nerves a bit. As they
continued she whispered to him "how far do we need to go." She
still wasn't fond of the stairs.

He breathes the barest sound of a whisper to her. "The first
floor is safer, I think. We will go there." They continued to
walk, the only sound the light scrape of Mika's footsteps.
Descending down the stairs, it got dark and darker. At a certain
point, Hunter holds his hand up, and a light shines from his
palm to guide Mika's way safely.
They reach the door, and he shoves his head through the door to
look around. He pulls it back out, and steps away, gesturing her
       to proceed him.

Mika nods at the boys gesture. She opens the door quietly and
walks through to the hallway. Her heart rate slows a fraction
leaving the stairwell behind. I hope we don't need to go back
in there again. she whispered to herself in her head. She
waited to Hunter to come through and lead the way.

Hunter stepped through the door, and the moment he cleared to
the other side of it, his form changed. No longer a little boy
of 7 or 8 with a teddy bear, he became a man of 20 with a
firearm that didn't look wholly substantial. Mika could guess
that it wouldn't harm her, but another ghost? If he knew how to
use it, he could certainly take one out. Or a dozen.
He's dressed in dark jeans and a vaguely torn up long sleeved
green sweater. It looks like this shirt has seen it's run ins
with a blade of some sort. Most of the rips are on the arms,
aside from one, which is centered over his abdomen.
He stands approximately 5'10, his black hair offset by piercing
leaf green eyes. He has the remnants of a tan, the same way he'd
had when he'd died. He looked rangy and lean. He also appeared
honed down the way a fighter would be.
He steps in front of her, moving to act as a shield for her
nearly automatically, peering this way and that down the halls.
After a moment of listening and his eyes looking deeply, he
gives a nod. "All is quiet. We can move on now." It's clear he's
waiting to see her reaction to what just happened. The man
wondered if she even remembered him.

Mika stared at Hunter. Her heart had stopped for a moment at
the change in him. It had shocked her, but she couldn't stop
staring at him. There was something so familiar about him, so
safe, so warm. His shielding her just made her heart beat a
little faster. Why does this feel so familiar, she asked
herself. "I swear it's like I know him. I have to, he's just
so...." her mind trailed off still captivated by the man
standing in front of her. She took a deep breath trying to
regain some composure, she didn't normally act like this. She
took a step up behind him, and whispered, "Okay, I'll follow
you." She stared into those green eyes searching them, while
searching her own mind. She swore she could be lost in those
       eyes.

He offers his hand for her to hold in a silent gesture. He looks
about to say something, but changes his mind. His eyes linger on
hers for a moment longer than they need to. "Come this way with
me, little angel. There's a safe room this way. We'll go there,
and figure out how we should get you out of here." They seem to
be moving off down the left hand hallway.
There is something so familiar about the way that he moves, but
also about his body shifting minutely toward perceived
possibilities of danger. Papers ruffle on the floor, and he'd
moved her behind him, a hand on his gun in a flash of motion.
       Protecting her seems paramount.
