Jess watched her younger brother stand before she stood up and
hugged him lightly. "I know." She had known this would be part
of his reaction to the news. But she was the older sister,
shouldn't she be the one telling him it would be alright. He
shouldn't be cheering her up, it should be the reverse,
shouldn't it.
She looked down slightly and rubbed the back of her head. "I'm
sorry I ruined our first time being back together in such a long
time. I hope we can take some time in the upcoming days to
enjoy each others company again."

Ely got to her feet, though still leaned against the tree. He
wasn't nearly as okay as he was letting his sister think he was.
She knew him better than that. He'd loved his mother dearly. But
she wasn't giving away that ruse, if that was how he preferred
it. She tilted her head, looking directly at Jess. "Stick
around, honey. We'll get a new pack started up. I think this
place could use people able to protect a territory. And someone
to make sure that shifters stop dying here." She said, softly.
Parents wouldn't be happy that she wasn't coming home. But they
might forgive it since she was back with Gregor.

Jess gave Gregor a smile, glad he seemed to at least not hate
her from the way she had dropped the news on him. She'd kick
herself for that later. She nodded at Lya, meeting her eyes, "I
wouldn't mind sticking around. If you guys are going to be
staying here protecting the territory, I'll gladly stay on and
do what I can. I would also like to see the end of shifters
dying."
