His hand filtered through her hair. He found it best not to
discuss the boy further. He never wanted her to feel the need to
defend him. "It will come in time, or it won't. Choices will be
made." Was all he said on the subject.
He nods his head, in deep thought about the entity she'd named
Miyako. "If something happens to you, does Miyako die, as well?"
He asked quietly. It may have seemed odd for him to ask this,
but it's apparent he has his reasons for doing so.
He continued moving his fingers through her hair. "Lady
Mnemosyne, Goddess of Memory. He likely knows nothing of the
price he paid. But considering the price he did pay, and the
price he could have, someone was watching his back while he was
down there. The boy was playing with things he should not have
been." Hunter shook his head.
"Call to the Devil, and he will come. Offer your life to Death,
and he will take it."

Mika thought about his words, and her eyes dropped slightly.
However she didn't really want to talk with Hunter about Shinji
anymore unless Hunter brought it up. She'd rather just enjoy
their time together. She moved to his question, "In that way we
are the same. If I die then Miyako does as well, same in the
opposite situation. Miyako is strong, but there is something
that can hurt her easily. Normally, if something happens to
hurt us normally our physical bodies are separate from each
other if one is hurt, but not always. Like when I get hurt
Miyako may feel the pain but the wounds aren't on her body.
Unless we are hurt badly." She shrugged twisting a strand of
hair around her finger.

Hunter relaxed with the idea of Miyako. [i]"Good. The demon is
bound to the physical limitations that you are. I was worried
that she could simply continue without you. Such a thing is
dangerous, indeed." He watched her play with her hair, his mouth
curved slightly in a bemused smile.
He kissed her forehead. "Tell me what you'd have of me for a
day, little angel. I'm here to keep you company, to see you. And
yes, to watch over you. I'm sure you are curious about many
things. Ask your questions, if you like. I will answer to the
best of my ability, but reserve the right to decline. I will not
lie to you. Depend on that." He told her, his hand drawing
circles over her back.[/i]

"That you don't have to worry about, she's stuck with whatever
happens to me." Mika smiled at Hunter as his hand traced her
back. She was glad to have him there with her, she more than
enjoyed when he visited. As her fingers continued to play with
the lock of hair her mind raced. She had to admit there were
many questions that she could ask him.
"I love when you come to see me." she said honestly, she
wouldn't lie to him either. Her eyes wandered to the tree then
back to his. "Where is this place, it's beautiful?" She said
quietly, it was a silly question she would admit, but it was
warming her up to being able to ask the questions that were more
in her mind. "You always know when I need you most don't you?
Even now you still watch over me." She murmured keeping her eyes
locked on his. She then thought aloud, "What do you do when I
don't see you?" she was honestly curious.

He smiled slightly at her admission, touching his forehead
briefly to hers for a moment. "I am glad you enjoy my company
the way that I do yours, sweet angel." He told her simply. "I,
too, love my visits with you. You're a bit of warmth in a cold
place." He lifted his forehead from hers, kissing where he'd
rested just moments before.
"This location is one of my favorite places to come. It is a
dream's reflection of, well, a dream. Built of and from one of
my own dreams. It came from a memory of mine that I held as a
boy. I do not remember more than what it looked like." Memory
faded for the dead.
His hand had returned to it's circles. "Yes, sweet angel I
always know when you need me. I don't always know why, but I am
always aware of when you require me. I'd be a poor knight if I
was not. A knight is always aware of his Queen's needs." The
fact that she seemed so surprised that he still watched over her
struck him.
"I will never willingly stop. I would either need be destroyed,
or you would have to ask me to cease. I will not stop of my own
accord. No matter the consequences.
As for what I do when you don't see me? Half of the time, I am
still with you as a guardian angel. The other half of the time,
I am finding information, and keeping myself well educated on
the world, it's history and other subjects." He told her. He
seemed to segue away from those consequences he spoke of.

Mika listened to every word intently. "Well I think this place
is beautiful." she said leaning her head on his shoulder. "I
would like to visit it more often, if that's alright of course."
Her eyes darted down quickly, she certainly would never want to
intrude if this was special for him. Her eyes rose and locked
on his, "I'm glad I can give you warmth."
Her eyes softened even more when he explained his role as a
knight. "I didn't mean to be surprised by the fact that you
watch over me. In fact it brings me great comfort. I would not
ask you to cease, It would make me sad not to have you near me."
She sighed into him. "I guess I just still have trouble making
myself see that people could care enough for me to want to be
there for me." She let her feelings out, she had always felt
worthless before coming to the school. The fact that people saw
her as something special or worth protecting still was foreign
to her. How could she be special? She had always been unwanted,
or so she thought. Now she knew what she was, and people still
wanted her to be happy. How could this broken monster be worth
looking after? To be honest with herself that was the question
she would most fear to ask aloud. She wrestled with it
constantly, not that she'd willingly admit it.
Thinking about what he did with his time she smiled. She could
see him watching over her as a guardian angel, and she could see
him learning about the world. She looked him in the eyes, "So
tell me are there things that you particularly like about the
world, things that captivate your interests?" She just wanted
to learn more about him. She wanted to know him better, to be
able to know what made him happy.

As if he knew her doubts and fears, he only ruffled her hair,
kissing her forehead. "I don't waste my time by protecting and
caring for someone unworthy." He left his words there.
His eyes squinted. "What do I find captivating here in this
world? The dreamers. The artists. Not their creations, but the
creators themselves. Those who let their minds and imaginations
free. No doubt, no hesitation. To watch them look at the world,
and see through a different sight. To watch them bring that
vision to others. It's extraordinary."
He went quiet for a moment. "For much the same reason, children
are delights. But I must be careful. When they no longer believe
in imaginary friends, but still see me, it can scare them. But
that window of time is short."

At Hunters words to her inner most worries Mika felt relieved.
It was like a weight has lifted off her shoulders. He could
always put her worrying mind to ease so swiftly. She let
herself relax into him as he told her of what interested him.
She listened intently as he painted the picture for her. She
could see why such a thing would captivate him. Being able to
see the world through the eyes of a dreamer was a beautiful
thing. She smiled as he talked about children as well. "I can
see you playing with children." she said with a soft smile.
"Its almost a shame when they stop believing in Imaginary
friends." She thought of her own Imaginary friend, although she
had turned out to exist. She locked her eyes on his, "You see
the world so differently than I do. I think I like your view
better than the one my mind tends to portray. You see the
light, the beauty, it makes me happy to hear how you see it."
She said this seriously, she knew she had a tendency to see the
dark before the light. Hunter was always able to make her see
more of the light.

He lifted one of his shoulders in a slight shrug. "I must look
for light, because otherwise, my world is colorless and dull.
The land of the dead is not a happy place, little angel. The
dead remember what it is to walk as the living. To feel an
embrace, the wind or the sun. But we cannot feel it the way that
you do. We only have memory, now." He wasn't telling her
something. It was a something that made his face darken.
He shook his head slightly, as if to clear the thought away. It
was certainly not a happy thing lodged in his mind. He turned
his questions elsewhere in distraction for himself. [i]"If Lady
Death were to call on you again, would you journey into the
Underworld, still?" He asked.[/i]

Mika had watched his face the whole time he was speaking. She
sighed into him when he finished his first thought. She
certainly hadn't meant for him to have to talk about anything
painful. She felt guilty for having brought it up. She knew he
was hiding something, but she wouldn't make him say it.
She took his change of subject and went with it, keeping away
from the previous thoughts. She thought for but a moment before
answering, "If I were called on again, I would make the journey.
If there is someone that I care about that I could save by
making that journey. Of course I would go." she said seriously.
She had been ready to go the last time, her resolve hadn't
faltered since. She looked him in the eyes, watching them for
his response.
