Hunter's Moon
By: Kaya Mitsume Date: August 2, 2012, 12:33 pm

Exhaustion overtook Mika, her mind falling to blank space and
static, then nothing. She had remained blissfully dormant for
half the night, before another warm presence joined her.
No longer did the the place remain blank. Her dream form is
picked up in familiar arms, the forest smell enveloping her. He
cradles her as if she's something rare and precious to be
cherished and protected, but to remain with freedom, as well.
Heknows she'll awaken sooneror later. It was only a matter of
time.

In her dream Mika's eyes open. It was weird her body felt
sluggish even here, in her mind. "Miyako did a number on me
this time." she muttered. She doesn't even need to look to know
who's arms she is in. She always felt protected when he was
around. The smell of the forest was so nostalgic, so soothing.
Her eyes found his and she whispered, "Hi Hunter. How are you
today?" She rested her head on him.

The two are moving, but he looks down at her. "Hello, little
angel. I'm fine today. I'm also taking you elsewhere, lest the
dragon sense me. I do not know him, he does not know me." His
shoulder lifted in a something of a shrug. He continued moving.
They were no longer in her house.
They'd come to a tree. In the dreamworld, there was more life to
the tree. It was healthier, more full, less strangled and
sullied. He sat with her in his lap against the tree. "How are
you, sweet angel?"

Mika smiled as he carried her to the tree. She curled up gently
in his lap. "I'm okay." she said softly leaning her head on his
shoulder. "I'm just tired today. Miyako used everything my
body had to give." She sighed and curled closer. She looked at
the tree, it was beautiful, and made her feel even more at
peace. Jasper would be at home watching her body so she could
enjoy her time with Hunter. "I've missed you." she said
quietly.

His eyes had gazed straight out in front of them, but at her
words, they fell to her face in surprise. He quickly wiped it
from his face. He said lightly. "Why would you miss me, little
angel? You have your King. And your very loyal court of friends.
I'm simply one of your knights."
His hand came up in automatic gesture, cradling her head. His
arms shifted to hold her for her comfort. "Why was Miyako using
your body, and why did she use such heavy stores of your
energy?"

Mika looked at Hunter, "Just because I have my King and friends,
doesn't mean I don't miss my knight when he's not there." she
said softly. She shifted slightly in his arms. "Miyako took
over when Shinji was in trouble." she looked down slightly. She
tapped into Miyako's memories in her dream to be able to
explain. "He was taken by the principal's brother. She was
trying to get the doll that holds Freya's emotions back, and she
ran into someone named Jester. She had to go all out to fight
him. She didn't even get the doll back." She sighed. "She was
sent back to the school with several broken ribs, and she was
thrown through a wall. Apparently we make a great wrecking
ball. Between her fight and the energy she took to seal me away
for it all....It drained both of us."

His face contorts into an expression of distaste. He didn't like
what had been done, but he said nothing about it. She was all
grown up, and could make her choices. He did say with a very
serious look on his face. "Please, sweet angel, promise me that
you will rest for a few days before attempting something as
dangerous as all that again?"
He carefully hid the wave of dislike that washed through him at
her words of having to save Shinji from himself. Hunter
carefully asked his next question. "Does your King often make
you save him? This is twice now that he has found himself in a
situation to require rescue. How did he return from the
Underworld, in fact?"

Mika locked her eyes on Hunters, "I certainly don't plan on
trying that again for a few days. I'll be surprised if I can go
much further than the bed in that time." She looked at him
seriously, "I didn't plan on being thrown through a wall mind
you, Miyako has a mind of her own, and she's stronger than I
am." She sighed, knowing that was true. Of the two of them,
Miyako was stronger.
She looked down and curled up against him again trying to figure
out how to answer his other question. "Shinji....doesn't always
need to be rescued. I don't know how he got himself captured
this time. He was fighting Freya and she dragged him off. He
throws himself into situations trying to protect me or his
friends." She sighed softly, "I don't even know if he knows
how he got out of the Underworld. He just fell from the ceiling
in our house." She shrugged lightly. "It's actually something I
keep wondering about, but he doesn't seem to remember it."

Hunter looked down at her, his brow furrowed slightly. "You King
needs to learn his limits. And he needs to respect your own. He
must learn that he need not save you from every bump. Sometimes,
you can only be a companion along the road. Carrying a loved one
through every obstacle may only end in pain and loss. He
underestimates you." Hunter says this with no judgement in his
voice. It is statement. To him, of fact.
"Your Miyako. She is demon? The demon that lives in your
blood?" Her wondering after what happened to Shinji in the
Underworld made his face fall to thought. "It is likely that
Mnemosyne exacted a price from him to release him." He told her
softly.

Mika listened to his words carefully. "In time maybe he'll stop
feeling the need to always rescue me." She said softly. "There
are definatelt sometime it would be nice for him to just let me
do what I need to do."
She looked hunter in the eyes, "yes Miyako is the demon that
resides in my blood. She is part of me and yet not entirely.
She has her own consiousness, her own thoughts and feelings.
She is quite a bit different from me personality wise." She said
thoughtfully. His last words had finally hit her "does even he
know what the price he paid." She muttered quietly.
