Re: The Not So Restricted Restricted Section

Haro watched his little goddess sink to her haunches as she
filtered through the ash with her hands. Her eyes closed, and
her face relaxed. Her chin tilted, as if she looked up at
something. A lot of somethings. It would have been difficult for
her to tell him what she saw in those moments before the
impressions came.
And then the echoes came, in fire and dead races. Curses and
missing information. She could almost feel that foreign ink coat
her fingertips, like something sticky on a masterpiece tucked
away from the eyes to hide the mistake.
Her eyes flew open, and both those and her hand were wreathed in
flame, just for a moment. It didn't seem to hurt her, per se.
But it wasn't a comfortable thing for the water child. Her eyes
lost the white hot glow of the flame as a slowly sputtering
ember loses it's glow. Until they were simply her own eyes.

the instant flames appeared, haro paniced. he quickly embraced
her and pulled her from the books ashes. "kaya! kaya are you
ok?!" he yelled as the flames faded. "what just happened?"

She is not burned anywhere, but for just a moment, her skin has
the same sort of internal warmth that his usually does. Again,
for the water child, it's not a comfortable thing. Those of the
water were never supposed to be so warm. But the warmth quickly
fades as the tendrils of impression released her.
His own body seemed to also leach away that false warmth on her
skin, as if drawn to it. She looked vaguely dazed as she tried
to set to rights her mind, and order the words she needed to
tell him of what she knew. It's not the most simple of things.
When she speaks, her voice is smokier, as if she'd been smoking
a clove or two, when he hasn't seen her do so in a few days.
"I'm fine, koi. That happens sometimes when I'm tugging at the
threads and getting impressions. It didn't hurt me. Just some
discomfort. You're the fire child, not me." She slid her palms
over his arms, getting the physical impression of heat from her
palms, transferring it to him. He dealt better with it.
Speaking of being the fire child... "I think our foray here is
done for the day. You want to go out to your beach, after I
check these out?" Books so old could be checked out? That was
distinctly odd. As far as he knew, no they couldn't.

"..." haro held her tighter for a moment, then nodded, standing
and picking her up with him. "yeah, lets get going"

She nodded, relaxing in his arms. " 'Kay." They checked out the
books that she'd found. Or in actuality, she wrote a note to the
librarian that she had them, and would bring them back in a few
days. The titles were copied down.
((Your post in the beach?))

Freya yawned as she made her way into this section of the
library, rubbing the sleep from her eyes she put on a pair of
reading glasses and began browsing through the books in search
of any on dark magic.

After a half hour's search, and a mindnumbing number of oddly
languaged books, Freya feels a pulse ofpower from a shelf
further down, and toward the top of the shelf.

She stopped walking as she felt a strange power attracting her.
Heading down torwards the shelf she felt the power coming from
the very top and flew up to the shelf to investigate.

The book is innocuous. It's a tan leather. Freya's knowledge and
training would warn her to be careful opening strange dark
books. Sometimes, the most unexpected things happened with books
created for dark purposes.
