Sitting Room

Rina walked into the sitting room, slightly red. "Shoulda
knocked" she said to herself, embarrassed. She sat down on the
nearest couch and stretched out to get comfortable.

After a couple hour's time, Kaya came down to the sitting room,
fully expecting to find Rina there. She sat down with the girl.
She doesn't look embarrassed, but apologetic. "Hey, hon. Sorry
about that. Didn't mean to embarrass you. What have you been up
to the past couple of days?" She hoped that by not being
embarrassed and glossing over it, she could soothe the other
girl's discomfort.

Rina smiled at Kaya, no longer feeling awkward about earlier.
"Hey, don't worry about it" she said, laughing about the
situation. "I've just been working on... well that's not too
important." She rubbed the back of her neck nervously thinking
about her sister. Realizing who she was talking to, Rina
laughed. "Just working on what I came here for."

She laughed softly, thankful that the girl didn't hold a grudge.
When the girl started to lie, her nervousness coming through
clearly, one of those raven brows hoisted up, the proverbial 'I
call bullshit.' when Rina remembered and corrected herself, Kaya
smiled. "Thought for a moment you forgot what I was. I was gonna
call you silly."
"How is it going, what you came to do? I figure you'll tell me
when you're ready to, so I'm not gonna push on that end. But if
you need someone to talk to about any of the reasons it makes
you nervous, I'm good at keeping things quiet." She offered, not
liking seeing the girl having to keep so much to herself. She
actually liked her quite a lot.

Rina smiled at her friend. "I'm almost ready to tell you, I
promise" she said, thinking about it once more. "I'm not ready
to do it yet, but when I tell you I hope that you can help. I'm
sure you can, but I'm not ready for help yet." Rina let out a
small sigh. "The thought of rejection is the only thing keeping
me from saying or doing anything.
Rina stood up and paced the room nervously. "The closer I get,
the more doubtful I feel about this whole situation. I'm afraid
that once my opportunity opens up, I'll chicken out and let it
pass."

Kaya watched the girl pacing, recognizing her nerves. "All
right, first, you need to keep this in mind. Getting told no
never hurt anyone. It's just a word. And even if that happens,
you'll still be you. Meaning you'll still have me, and be pretty
damn awesome." She grinned at Rina. There's no lie from Kaya.
"Second thing. It doesn't diminish you if things don't work out.
What will diminish you, and your belief in yourself is if you
chicken out, and miss that chance. You don't need to give
yourself reason to have doubts. Life will do that enough for
you." She held out her hands like a scale. "See what I'm saying?
One does take from the scale. The other only stands to add if
it's positive.
Always remember. When it comes to people, and adding them to an
equation, that equation is already balance. You're only adding
to the positives. And if that person doesn't want to be a
positive, then they have no place for you. so no clucking and no
doubting." Kaya grinned at the girl.

Rina nodded, feeling a little better hearing Kaya's words.
However, the heaviness still weighed in her heart. All her life
she'd been turned away by people when she tried to make friends,
but this was different. This was her sister, they shared the
same blood. She shook off the thought and smiled. One particular
line stuck out to her. You'll still have me. "Yeah" Rina said
happily. "You're right. Thank you." A strange feeling took over
her then, confidence.

Rina looked at her friend still smiling. "I'll be back later
Kaya, I'm gonna go out and explore the area more. Since I'm
staying I might as well know where everything is." She waved a
happy farewell, grabbed her bag, and left.
