What is the operational influence in Commercial Airlines?
When is a company big enough to accommodate a Operations Control
       Centre?
Would you fly with an airline knowing that the pilot alone did
the dispatch? meaning, the same guy that prepared his own
information (and might have missed something) is going to
operate that flight (not knowing he might have missed something)
then take all the rest of the responsibility (Ground control,
maintenance problems, Crew resource work load etc...).
I would seriously re-think my flight if i know I am placing my
life (and that of my family) in the hands of 1 person (who might
have had a Baby keeping him awake the whole night, then he had
to change a tire, may have had to fight traffic to get to work,
and then get told by the company that his leave has been
canceled.) all of this before he prepares his own flight that he
needs to remember to check all the drift down information and
weather required, runway conditions for all required runways,
weather information for all the required alternates, Notams for
all required alternates and destinations, prepare and get
clearances from ATC for all required alternates and
destinations, fuel required for all the above mentioned
scenarios, penalties due to MEL and CDL and weather minima’s.
All while the rest of his crew wants all their required
information, and ground pushing him for fuel figures, and bus
trips to the airport, jump seat requests, extra loads and delay
       concerns.
Fleet captains pushing for fuel saving techniques
Commercial pushing to get more flights with less a/c and crew
Well I suppose you know the rest as I can carry on.
Keeping all this in mind, is South Africa moving forward in
promoting Aviation Safety and safer air travel, by employing the
Sole responsibility Dispatch? With regards to PIC?
Give me your thoughts and objections.

What a mouth full, I agree, I will not fly on that, but surelly
there is ops controlers or procedures to ensure a crew member
       gets the right assistance?
Cost and worth? is it worth it to send some one for all the
training if they are not allowed by regs to have a say, I say
::) no, give training but give responsibility,
       ;D
