bad luck Pendant?

My bro does a bit of metal detecting and has found a few bits
of jewellery plus many coins.
One thing he found was a pendant but he seemed to have bad luck
from the moment he found it and wore it . so he gave it to his
next door neighbour (Former husband of his landlady.)
The next time my bro saw him he asked if any bad things had
happened. The guy told him, yes, one of his houses had burnt
down .

He may have done afterwards but not before because he wanted to
get rid of it haha

lol. i wonder if the neighbor put two and two together and
realized the pendant was the problem.
