       CHAPTER EIGHT

       Chapter 8
DJ and the assassin tumbled down through the freezing air. But
neither of them noticed the cold: they were too busy trying to
       cut each other on two.
DJ knew that there was no conceivable way for him to not hit the
ground. Depending on how he hit the ground would determin
whether he broke his neck or just died outright.
But the assassin had no way of escaping impact on frosted
concrete either, so at least he'd be going down with DJ.
       Or so he thought.
The assassin stopped slashing at DJ and rolled backward in
       middair.
There was only a few dozen metres left until they hit the
ground, which was quickly rushing up to meet them.
But the assassin pulled a chord that ran into his black
backpack.Something ignited and the assassin began to fly upwards
       towards DJ.
It wasn't a backpack: it was a jetpack.
The assassin whipped out one of his silenced M9s and awkwardly
       aimed at DJ.
Every shot missed, but DJ managed to somehow become slung over
the assassin's shoulder. The rocketed upwards as the ground
       swiftly shrank away from them.
But as they flew up to Flash7's window, the assassin grabbed
DJ's coat, and swung him down and then upwards.
DJ flew straight up the side of the building, unable to control
       himself.
Great, he thought. Now he would just die even more painfully.
BUt to his luck, he was flying upwards so fast, that soon, the
       roof passed him.
       DJ saw his one chance.
He rolled in middair, just as he began to fall.
He landed painfully on the roof, rolled over several times...and
       continued towards the edge.
He was about the fall off, he's hands unable to grasp the edge
       of the building.
But something garbbed onto his leg. Something that stopped him
       falling over the side.
       A hand.
DJ then realized that he was hanging over the side already,
upside down and his only lifeline being his leg and whoever had
       grabbed onto it.
The ground was miles, and a small crowd of people who had heard
the gunshots and had seen DJ and the assassin falling had
gathered at the base of the tower.
       "Hold...on," said a female voice.
Slowly, DJ began to go up the side of the building and back onto
       the roof.
When he was on his back on the roof, he let the blood leave his
       head.
Standing over him was a girl. She wore black trousers and a
black coat that stopped at her waist, but the continued down
       behind her legs.
She had brown hair and wore a shirt with ^_^ on the front.
       "Are you okay?" she asked.
"Yeah...thanks for that," said DJ, slowly getting up.
       "How did you-".
Before he could finish he noticed the patch on her arm.
It was an awesome face on the background of a snowflake. The
       patch of a moderator.
He looked up at her. It was unnerving being in the presence of a
mod. They were some of the most powerful beings in ONM, capable
of doing many things. Some could even read your minds.
She noticed that he was looking at the patch on her arm and
       blushed.
"Oh...yeah," she said. "I'm Sparkle...sorry, I'm kind of new at
       this job...".
       She looked around her.
"This has to be the right building..." she mumbled to herself.
"Look,"said DJ. "There's something really bad happening
downstairs. I really have to go".
"Same here," said Sparkle. "There's an assassination about to
happen and I have to stop it".
DJ blinked. "Is the target named Flash7?" he asked.
       Sparkle looked at him, astonished.
"Yes," she said. "How could you know that?!".
"Because it's happening downstairs right now! My sister's in
there trying to fight that guy off.
       "Which floor?" asked Sparkle.
"I don't know" replied DJ, panicking.
"Dammit...why are there no stairs up here?!".
Sparkle had a thoughtful look on her face. She walked over to
the edge of the building and looked over.
She crouched down and rolled off the side ofthe building,
forming a diving motion as she fell.
       DJ quickly followed her.
What the hell was she doing?
But he realised quickly as he watched her fall.
Wings with black feathers had sprouted from her back. And she
was heading straight for the broken window.
The assassin was skilled. Really skilled. And Sparkle had said
she was a new mod. She may have difficulty here.
A Sask may well be dead for all DJ knew.
       He jumped.
The cold air whipped up his coat and battered his face.
       Sparkle had disappeared.
       DJ drew his katana.
He only had one chance to get inside and potentially save
       everyone.
Or he would be painting the pavement red.
He drove the sword into the side of the building.
       It shook around uncontrollably.
DJ could only barely hold on.
But he was slowing down. Fast.
A massive, ugly gash had ripped straight through the side of the
building where he had dug his sword in.
DJ could see the broken window coming towards him.
       But then he stopped falling.
He was dangling in middair, clutching onto his sword.
The window was still several dozen metres below him.
He could faintly hear gunshots. Sask was still alive then.
DJ had to get inside now.
As quickly as he could manage, DJ pulled himself onto a large
windowsill. The window was tinted, so he could see nothing.
Carefully, DJ yanked his katana from the wall and pulled a kunai
       from his coat pocket.
He drove it into the window behind him.
Cracks appeared across the glass's surface. DJ continued to jab
       the kunai into the window.
Eventually, it smashed and he fell backwards into the room
       beyond.
He hit a wooden floor and blinked.
       He was inside.
Slowly, DJ got up, grinning slightly.
But that grin disappeared as he realised where he was.
       He was in a bedroom.
On the bed before him was blonde woman wearing only a thong and
a bra, sitting on top of a man wearing only boxers.
There was an awkward silence as the couple on the bed stared at
       DJ, horrified.
"Er...sorry," said DJ, slowly moving around the bed to the door.
The couple continued to stare at him.
Once he reached the door, DJ swiftly ran out, trying not to
laugh at what he'd just done.
He found went through apartment he intruded upon, noticing
       clothes discarded around the rooms.
He quickly went into the corridor and dashed down several
       stairs.
A couple floors down, he recognised the corridor Flash7 had
       originally lead them down.
He saw Flash7's apartment door and ran for it, drawing his
       Katana.
       He ran into the room.
Almost instantly, he leapt for the floor as the assassin fired
silenced shots straight in his direction.
Sask was taking cover behind an overturned table, Flash7
       unconscious next to her.
Sparkle was also in the room, her black wings gone.
He hands were surrounded by silvery needles, which she was
launching at the assassin, who skillfully dodged them.
The assassin was obviously feeling the strain and was finding it
hard to avoid Sparkle's needles and Sask's gunshots and fight
       back at the same time.
DJ leapt at him, making it worse for the assassin, who also drew
       his sword.
They locked blades, trying to overpower each other.
They stood in the cold air, not moving, only trying to push each
       other away.
       DJ won.
He shoved the assassin several feet across the room.
Sask stood up and aimed at the assassin, as did Sparkle, who
stood nearby, arm raised with silvery needles swirling round her
       hand.
The assassin looked for a way around them, but there wasn't one.
       He was beaten.
       "Who are you?" asked Sparkle.
       The assassin said nothing.
       Sparkle took a step closer.
DJ noticed her arms tremble slightly. She was scared.
       "Who...are you?" she asked again.
       The assassin smiled.
"Why do you fight for all that is flawed?" he asked.
       "What?" asked Sparkle.
"Why do you fight for all this? All that is a waste of space?".
       Nobody replied.
"Well if you can't answer," said the assassin. "Then I'll be
       going".
He swiftly pushed a button on his shoulder pad.
He wooshed out of the window as his jetpack ignited.
Sparkle and Sask rushed to the window, firing gunshots and
needles after him as he quickly flew over the rooftops.
       He gotten away.

       Chapter 9
It was evening in Music Country. The vast expanses of Christmas
lights covering the city lit the the streets and buildings up
       gloriously.
There was a festive mood in everyone's mind.
Atop the Forum Reread Tower, one of the highest buildings in
Music Country, the assassin who had attempted to kill Flash7 set
down on one of the stone gargoyles jutting out of the spired
roof, the cold wind and sounds of traffic covering the roar of
       his jetpack.
He crouched on the gargoyle and sighed in annoyance.
He pulled of his night-vision goggles and rubbed his eyes. He
had shoulder-length black hair and calculating green eyes.
"What happened, Swixer?" growled a voice all of a sudden.
The assassin, Swixer-Swaxer, didn't so much as flinch.
When you worked with him for a long time, it no longer shocked
you when SamuraiFerret randomly made unseen entrances.
"Not much," replied Swixer. SamuraiFerret's face was hidden
under a black hood. He was crouched on another gargoyle nearby
Swixer, his black-leather coat sprawling over the sides as
though they were wings. A metal hand - which looked more like a
claw was visible at the end of his sleeve.
He had a long twinblade sword sheethed on his back.
"Why did you attack?" growled SamuraiFerret.
"He was about to tell someone about Helmaroc".
       "Who?"
"I don't know. They showed him a chart and were asking questions
       about the Chickens".
       "They fought back?".
       "Yes"
       "Badly?"
       "No".
       SamuraiFerret shifted his head slightly.
       "So why did you fail?".
       Swixer said nothing.
       SamuraiFerret chuckled.
"What, you were having an off day?" he joked.
"No," replied Swixer. "Someone else showed up".
       SamuraiFerret paused.
       "Who?" he asked.
"...Sparkle," replied Swixer, hoping that SamuraiFerret wouldn't
       hear him.
       But he did.
There was a short silence, only the traffic below and the cold
       wind making any sound.
       "You're fiance?" growled SamuraiFerret eventually.
"My ex-fiance," corrected Swixer. "And she's a mod now".
       "Did she recognise you?"
"No. The goggles covered a lot of my face.
       SamuraiFerret chuckled again.
       Swixer turned to him.
       "You already knew, didn't you".
       "Indeed," snarled SamuraiFerret.
"And I can tell you now that there is much fear in her work,
much clumsiness. You could have fended her off easily...yet you
failed to do so. Why is that, Swixer?".
Swixer said nothing and looked down at the streets below.
He could feel SamuraiFerret's hidden eyes burning into the back
       of his head.
"You still have feelings for her," the hooded man snarled.
At the moment, a long tail with unkempt fur and several spines
       appeared from beneath SamuraiFerret's coat.
The tail jabbed into Swixer's side.
Swixer saw it coming, leapt up, kicked it away and drew his
       sword.
But before he could do anything, another, much longer and
sharper sword with two blades at the hilt was at his neck.
"I need to know where your loyalties lie, Swixer," growled
       SamuraiFerret.
His hood was down. His face was cold and calculating, with
shoulder-length brown hair. One of his eyes was purple, the
       other grey.
       "With her or the Emperor?".
       Swixer said nothing.
       SamuraiFerret lowered his twinblade.
       "With the Emperor," replied Swixer.
       "Good," growled SamuraiFerret
He sheethed the sword and crouched back onto the gargoyle.
"What did Flash7 tell them anyway?".
       "About KrikenKing"
"I see...do they know where he is?".
       "I don't think so".
       "Unfortunate".
Swixer raised an eyebrow. "How is it unfortunate?" he asked.
"If we could lead them to KrikenKing, we could put them out of
their misery before we become compromised".
"I thought we were already compromised: there's a mod on our
       trail," said Swixer.
"Yes, well we can deal with her too...or would you not like
       that?".
"I just told you, my loyalty is to the Emperor".
       "We'll see".
They stayed silent for a few minutes.
"Is the feather weaponised yet?" asked Swixer.
"Yes, it is," said SamuraiFerret. "Mariofan and Darkmann
       completed the process this afternoon".
"So when does Operation Wraith begin?" asked Swixer.
"In a few days, at the Flag final. As soon as they raise that
       trophy, we move".
       "Then we just wait?".
"That...and find a way of getting the mod and her friends to
       KrikenKing".
SamuraiFerret remained silent for a few moment and snapped his
       metal fingers.
       "The son," he said.
       "Who?" said Swixer.
"Flash7's son, Irish Monkey. The journalist. He's been worried
about his father for ages now. KrikenKing said he saw him
snooping around. Perhaps he'll inform the pests of his
location...then we can find out what they know..."
"There's a chance," replied Swixer, placing his goggles back
       over his face.
"I big chance I reckon," growled SamuraiFerret, pulling his hood
       back over his head.
He leapt from the gargoyle, ragged tail trailing behind him. He
       fell...and vanished into the night.
Swixer was left alone atop the tower.

       CHAPTER TEN
   DIR By: PsychoPikmin
       Date: October 23, 2014, 5:38 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Chapter 10
On the afternoon that SamuriFerret and Swixer-Swaxer had met
atop Reread Tower, DJ, Sask and Sparkle had gone with Flash7 to
       the Music City Hospital.
Sask had still been in some confusion as to who Sparkle was,
which had been cleared up when DJ had shown her the mod patch on
       Sparkle's arm.
Metal Knights had arrived at the apartment in due time after the
       assassin had left.
These heavy metal-based enforcers acted as police in Music
Country, or rather a very efficient secret service.
They wore grey helmets with tinted visors and wore dark coloured
       uniforms.
On their backs were guitars, which they used as weapons.
They'd looked at the crime scene, and taken Flash7 down to an
ambulance. Sparkle had shown them she was a mod and allowed DJ
and Sask to come with her.
Now, they were in the hospital, while Flash7 was being healed in
       cryo.
Sask was off somewhere, probably trying to find a hot nurse.
DJ was slumped in a chair in the hospital waiting area, eating a
piece of cake he'd bought from the hospital cantine.
Sparkle was watching a tv nearby.
DJ was still trying to piece together what had happened that
morning. Was Flash7 being serious about Helmaroc being held
captured somewhere in the city? He'd seemed pretty serious and
it was hard not to believe when someone had smashed through the
window and had tried to kill him.
And now DJ was working with a mod who had known about the
assassination attempt and when it was going to happen. And if a
mod was working on something like this, something had to be
       happening.
Either way, if Helmaroc was here, this might be a good chance to
       get one of its feathers.
But if someone was sending assassins after people who talked
about the Sacred Chickens...was it really a good idea?
Then DJ remembered one part of the conversation with Flash7.
       KrikenKing.
He was the one who had been threatening Flash7 and who had told
Flash7 that Helmaroc was in captivity.
He had something to do with this. But where was he? Flash7
couldn't tell them as he was being operated on in cryo. Dead end
       DJ, he thought.
DJ suddenly realized that he could have been a pretty decent
       detective.
Maybe he should ask Sparkle if she knew anything.
He got up and walked over to her.
The news was on the TV, covering the assassination attempt.
"Are we on TV?" DJ asked her.
"No," replied Sparkle, arms crossed. "There's been nothing about
us...just that there was an assassination attempt. There is some
footage of you falling out of a window though".
As she said it, DJ and the assassin suddenly appeared on the
screen, falling down the side of the building and suddenly
flying back up again as the assassin ignited his jetpack.
"Weren't there any witnesses?" asked DJ.
"Only the people watching from the ground...and something about
a couple who saw someone smash through their bedroom window.
       That you?".
       DJ said nothing.
       Sparkle grinned.
"So what do you mods know about all this?" DJ asked her.
"Not much," replied Sparkle, sitting down. "I'm the only one who
know the most. Mods tend to work alone unless
       something...apocalyptic is happening".
"So...what do you know?" DJ asked, sitting down next to her.
"I've been following a stolen piece of technology," she said. "A
       jetpack".
"The one the assassin had?" said DJ.
       "Yeah," she said, sighing.
"I was following it all over the ONM black market for weeks
until it was bought by a mercenary group".
DJ raised an eyebrow. "What's the group called?" he asked.
"Gostalt," said Sparkle. "Nobody seems to anything about them. I
asked the mercs commision, who say that they haven't got the
names of anyone in the group and that they have no base or
territory and haven't completed any jobs".
"And now they're attacking people," said DJ.
"Someone's hiring them to," said Sparkle.
"Someone who wants everyone with knowledge of the Sacred
Chickens to not interfere with whatever they're doing".
       Sparkle looked at DJ.
       "The Sacred what?" she asked.
"Sacred Chickens," said DJ. "That's why me and Sask where there
to see Flash7. We're looking for the Sacred Chickens and a
friend of ours told us he'd be able to help".
"What...those things from the bedtime stories?" Sparkle asked.
"The birds which have feathers that grant wishes?".
       DJ nodded.
       Sparkle raised an eyebrow.
"Are you an asylum escapee?" she asked.
"No," replied DJ. "They're real. And there's on in this city.
That's why someone tried to kill Flash7: because he was trying
to tell us about it. He's being thretened, probably by that
       group you're looking for".
       Sparkle said nothing.
"I'm serious!" said DJ. "A guy called KrikenKing told him that
if he said anything that he'd be dead".
Before Sparkle could reply, a man wearing glasses and brown coat
manically dashed into the room and stopped at the reception
       desk, panting.
The woman behind the desk stood and waited for him to stand up,
a blank expression on her face.
DJ recognised the man: it was the man FLash7 had been talking
with at the cafe that morning.
"My I help you sir?" asked the woman behind the desk.
       "Yes," panted the man.
"I've been told that my father's been taken into care here. His
       name is Flash7".
"Ah yes," said the woman blankly. "He's in cryo. Hold on, I'll
get a doctor to assist you".
She pressed a button and spoke into a mouthpiece.
"Dr. Strangleworld to the reception, Dr. Strangeworld to the
reception," she said into the mouthpiece.
Sure enough, a black man wearing a white lab coat walked in and
greeted the man at the desk.
DJ and Sparkle looked at each other and headed for the desk.
Dr. Strangeworld was speaking with the man. "I assure you, your
father's condition is stable. He may have lost a lot of blood,
but it's nothing we can't handle".
So he was Flash7's son. He must have been at work.
When he had calmed down and Dr. Strangeworld had left, DJ and
       Sparkle went to greet him.
"Er, hi," said DJ, tapping the man on the shoulder.
       The man turned to them.
"Erm, hello," he said. "Who are you?".
"I'm DJ, this is Sparkle," said DJ. Sparkle smiled at the man.
"We brought your father here," she said. "There was an
       assassination attempt on his life".
"Yeah, I heard on the radio," said the man.
"I'm Irish by the way. Irish Monkey. But just call me Irish".
"We managed to stop the assassin," said DJ. "But before that
happened, your dad was talking to me and my sister about...the
       Sacred Chickens".
       Fear flashed in Irish's eyes.
       "Wha...what about them?" he asked.
"He told us that...he was being threatened by a group of people
who had one of the Chickens captured".
Irish was silent for a few seconds before he said anything.
"Well...I don't know about that thing about the Chicken, but
       yeah...he is being threatened".
"He told me about someone called KrikenKing," said DJ.
"Yeah," said Irish. "I've seen him".
       "Where?" asked DJ.
       Irish blinked.
"Come with me he said," leading DJ and Sparkle to a nearby
       corridor.
They walked to a janitor's closet and opened the door.
They jumped when they saw Sask and a nurse inside...making out.
"Sask!" whispered DJ harshly. "The hell are you doing?!".
"I think that's fairly obvious," said Sask. "Do you mind?".
       She shut the door.
Irish shook his head. "let's find somewhere else to talk," he
       said.
They walked down the corridor, DJ and Sparkle grinning as they
saw a janitor heading down the hallway in the opposite direction
       towards his occupied closet.
They stopped in front of a large window showing a view of the
       city in the setting sun.
"You can't go looking for KrikenKing," whispered Irish. "He's
       dangerous".
"We have to know where he is, Irish," said DJ.
"No," said Irish. "You don't. He will [i]kill[i/] you".
"He's part of a group of merecenaries with stolen techonology,"
       said Sparkle.
"And besides, I'm a mod". She showed him the patch on her arm.
"We can handle KrikenKing...and find out who tried to kill your
       father".
       They stood in silence.
       "Okay," said Irish, sighing.
"I'll show you where he is tomorrow...meet me by the cafe in
Rawk Park. Now, I have to go see if my father's okay...".
       He walked off.
The next day, DJ, Sask and Sparkle met Irish in Rawk Park just
as he'd said. It was bitterly cold and a lot of snow had set in
the night, so all of them and coats down up tight. Except
Saprkle, who seemed perfectly fine in the cold.
"Are you sure you wanted to do this?" Irish asked them.
In reply, Sask took out her modded USP and reloaded it. "We're
       ready," she said calmly.
Irish nodded. "Follow me, then," he said.
They began walking across the snowy park in silence. DJ wasn't
sure how to feel. Irish had made KrikenKing sound very
dangerous. But if he survived against a giant squid, a island of
trolls and an assassin, he could probably survive whatever lay
       ahead.
They left the park and entered some empty sidestreets.
DJ, Sask and Sparkle were weary now. Knowing what they'd been
doing in the past few hours, this seemed like the perfect palce
       for an ambush.
Soon, Irish stopped at the end of an alleyway.
"That's where he is," he said quietly, pointing at a rugged
house at the end of the road. "I don't know why, but this entire
street has been completely quiet for the past couple of weeks".
"Thanks Irish," said Sparkle. "We'll go take him down. Your
father will be able to live in peace after today".
Irish gave them a small smile and watched them run up the
       street.
DJ drew his katana. He was prepared for whoever was in there. He
wouldn't be thrown out of any windows today.
But he didn't see someone in the window of the house they were
heading for: the person who pressed a switch that activated the
       landmines hidden beneath the road.
In a near instant, the entire road was filled with on harmonious
explosion, throwing DJ, Sask and Sparkle off their feet.
The breath was knocked out of DJ's chest as he lay on the ruined
road, his face and clothes covered in dirt. The last thing he
saw befor eblacking out was Sask trying to stand up...and
       falling.
       DJ awoke suddenly.
       He looked straight up, disorientated.
He was breathing fast with confusion. He looked around him. He
was strapped into a chair by his hands and feet.
He was in a room with wooden floors and a wooden ceiling. He was
directly opposite a circular window that faced out over the
       city. It was nighttime already.
"DJ? Are you awake?" Sask asked. She was strapped into a chair
facing away from DJ, which was strapped to DJ's chair.
"Yeah," mumbled DJ. "Where are we?".
"Some kind of attic," said Sparkle, who was also awake.
"My gun's not on my coat," said Sask. "DJ, your sword's gone
       too".
"Maybe I can get us out," said Sparkle. "I use magic, not
       weapons".
"I wouldn't try that if I were you," said a gruff voice in the
shadows. All three of them looked around frantically, unable to
see who was speaking to them.
       "...who's there?" yelled Sask.
"I think you've scared them, KrikenKing," said a woman's voice,
       also from the shadows.
"Yeah, KrikenKing," said another, much deeper voice. "Don't be
       rude. Go greet them".
Sure enough, a man strided out of the darkness. Only DJ and
Sparkle could see him clearly - Sask had turn her head. He wore
shades and a purple jacket with black jeans. He had frizzy,
unkempt hair that went all over the place.
"I think you were looking for me?" he chuckled.
       "Are you KrikenKing?" asked Sparkle.
       The man nodded.
"Then we have a bone to pick with you," DJ said.
"I think we have a bone to pick with you," said another voice
which had much more authority than the others.
Another, taller man in a black coat stepped into view on the
       other side of the room.
He had shoulder length, dark hair...and a tail with unkempt fur.
But what was really scary about him was how his eyes were
different colours: one was purple, the other grey.
"I believe you've been tampering in our little operation," he
said, walking round them, hands behind his back.
"Who are you?" DJ asked, trying not to look at his strange eyes
       directly.
"I...am SamuriFerret," said the tall man.
"And you are the one's looking for our little catch".
"Helmaroc?" said DJ all of a sudden.
"Someone's been doing his homework," said the deep voice in the
       darkness.
"Shall we show it to him?" said the woman's voice.
       SamuriFerret nodded.
Suddenly, light filled the room, which turned out to be much
       bigger than DJ had thought.
DJ couldn't see anything, but he heard a thunderous squwark as
       the lights went on.
And then, out of nowhere, the assassin from the day before
appeared, and cut them loose from the chairs. He still wore the
same black clothes and still had his green night-vision goggles
       covering his face.
He produced an F2000 assault rifle and aimed it at DJ, who
       turned round.
A look of pure awe appeared on his face.
"Oh my God," said Sparkle. "You weren't kidding".
Before them, within a giant cage, was Helmaroc.
It was a huge, purple bird, with long, green and yellow tails.
And it was here, before DJ's eyes.
"I did it granddad," he whispered to himself. "I found it".
But as the light was on, DJ noticed who else was in the room.
The deep voice had come from a tall, brutish man in a leather
coat, with short, tightly cropped hair and a beard.
There was also the woman, with blonde hair and a blue coat. She
wore black tousers and high heels and also wore shades.
This was the group Sparkle was looking for.
       Gostalt.
DJ turned to the one named SamuriFerret.
"Why do you have it locked up like that?" he asked.
The tall man turned to him, looking doen at hi9m with his weird
       eyes.
"Because our master told us to," he replied.
"Who is your master?" said Sask, taking a step forward. The
       assassin raised the F2000.
"Why should I tell you?" said SamuriFerret. "He'll be in
       here...".
SamuriFerret looked down at a watch on his wrist.
       "Now," he said.
The room suddenly felt cold. Very cold.
Helmaroc silenced its screeches. Something had spooked it to the
       point of silence.
Then, every shadow left in the room began to crawl across the
wooden floor as though they were some kind of snake.
The assimilated in one spot, spiraling upwards to create a kind
       of shell.
Eventually, the shell was formed and unravelled in a set of
black, draconian wings. Black, liquidy shadows dripped from
them, and seeped between the floorboards.
At the centre was a figure in a black cloak, hood up, hiding the
       face underneath.
The freezing room went silent. Halmaroc his its face under one
       of its wings.
DJ suddenly felt very, very afraid.
Everyone except him, Sask and Sparkle bowed down to this
       newcomer.
The figure spoke in an ice-cold voice.
"Are these the ones you spoke of, SamuriFerret?" he asked.
"Yes, Emperor," the tall man replied, standing back up.
The dark figure seemed to be observing DJ, Sask and Sparkle.
"Emperor?," Sask said defiantly. "Emperor of what?".
Even though she spoke bravely, DJ could senxe fear in his
       sister's voice.
"You speak valiently," said the Emperor.
"I admire your...courage. So yes, I shall tell you who I am".
       His wings folded in slightly.
       "I," he snarled.
       "Am the Emperor Of Ghosts".
       DJ's eyes widened.
So it was true. The Ghost Empire still existed.
       "But," said the Emperor.
"I find that title to be a little long winded".
       He lowered his hood.
DJ, Sask and Sparkle all gasped. They recognised his face. Most
people in ONM would recognise his face.
His skin was pale, but he was still recognisable.
He had a close-cropped beard and black hair that spiked up with
       red tips.
"But you can call me Chandra," he said, grinning maniacally.

       Chapter 11
Chandra continued to grin maniacally as he slowly circled around
DJ, Sask and Sparkle, his ominous wings dripping liquid shadow.
All three of them stood dead still. Not because of the sudden
       cold but out of fear.
       DJ glanced at Sask.
The usual defiance that was on her face in dangerous situations
wasn't there. DJ couldn't even tell if she was scared.
Sparkle was shivering, as was DJ.
Chandra gave off some kind of aura that radiated cold, bloody
       fear.
Even the members of Gostalt seemed slightly unnerved, all except
SamuriFerret, who seemed perfectly at ease.
The room was deadly silent, the only sound being the clomp of
Chandra's boots as he circled them.
"You aren't Chandra," said Sask all of a sudden.
Chandra chuckled. "What makes you say that?" he said, looking
Sask dead in the face. She tried to look away.
She was scared and he knew it, using it to his advantage.
"You've...posessed him," she said. "You're the Emperor of Ghosts
       in Chandra's body".
"Very good," said Chandra. "Of course, it was blatantly obvious.
Like a war hero would become Emperor of Ghosts".
He walked away from them, hands behind his back.
He looked up at Helmaroc in its giant cage. The bird seemed
       stunned. It was scared too.
Chandra, or rather Possessed Chandra, seemed to make everything
       (except SamuriFerret) afraid.
"Hello there," he said to the bird.
"What are you...planning to do?" stuttered Sparkle bravely.
Chandra turned round slowly to face her.
"Say again?" he said, stepping forwards.
DJ saw Sparkle throat twitch as she gulped.
       "I said...I...I said...".
The the fear had literally frozen the words. She was too
       frightened.
Chandra slowly continued towards her, grinning at her fear.
"What was that?" he said. "I can't seem to hear you".
Sparkle opened her mouth slightly, but said nothing.
Chandra laughed. He was enjoying this, or rather the Emperor
       inside him was.
"She asked you what you're planning to do".
The grin on Chandra's face disappeared as he looked at DJ, who
had boldly come out with the statement.
DJ wasn't sure what he was doing. He'd just reacted.
       And now a super-powerful-world-hating-possessed-ward-hero was
       giving him evils. Great.
Chandra strode straight up to DJ and looked down at him.
       "What's your name?" he asked.
       "DJ," said DJ slowly.
"You have much courage, DJ," said Chandra. "Like your friend
       here".
He glance round at Sask, he was staring straight forwards.
"But it would do you well to not say or do the wrong thing
here...it could gravely mame your chances of survival".
He turned away and stood next to SamuriFerret.
"I would tell you what I'm planning to do, but I merely came to
see if it were true that one of my most skilled assassins was
       outfought by vermin".
He fired a steely glance behind DJ.
He was looking at the assassin with the F2000 behind them, the
one who'd attempted to kill Flash7 the day before.
"SamuriFerret," Chandra said. "I'll leave you to give them
details. They might as well know...they won't be alive much
       longer".
       "Yes, Emperor," said SamuriFerret, nodding.
Chandra looked back at DJ, Sask and Sparkle.
"I applaud you at your feeble attempts to thwart me, but I have
       other things to do".
He stepped into the centre of the room and spread his wings,
sending shadowy droplets all over the room.
"Tell me when they're dead," he said to SamuriFerret.
Then, he vanished with a freezing blast of air.
There was silence in the room once again.
DJ heard one of the members of Gostalt, KrikenKing, breathe out
       heavily.
"Thank God," he said. "I hate it when he pays a visit".
"Tell me about it," said Mariofan, rubbing her arms. "It'll take
ages to warm up again in here".
Indeed it was still very cold. Sparkle was still shivering.
But noticably, now that the Emperor had left, Sask's trademark
       defiance had returned.
"What is it, SamuriFerret?" she said. "What's he planning to do
and why do you have that bird locked up?".
SamuriFerret laughed and turned away from them.
In the split second that he was looking away, Sask pointed at
something to DJ, keeping her hand down by her side.
       DJ glanced in that direction.
He saw a table. And on it was his sword and Sask's gun.
Well at least their weapons were in reach. But how were they
       going to get to them.
"If you must know," said SamuriFerret, turning back to them.
       "Then I'll tell you".
"I suppose you've heard of Old ONM?".
Sask nodded. "Who hasn't?" she said. "It's where we all once
came from...and where we waged war with the Ghost Empire".
"Indeed," said SamuriFerret. "And you'll also know how the Ghost
Empire lost that war and was cruelly banished from ONM".
"The Empire was banished because it tried to take over ONM,"
said Sask. "Besides, the Empire fought for Old ONM. And when our
ancestors migrated to this world, we let it have it".
"Yes," said SamuriFerret. "And for a 100 years now, the Ghost
Empire made Old ONM its own...and now it wants this ONM".
"Why?" asked Sask. "Isn't Old ONM big enough?".
"Oh yes," said SamuriFerret. "But the Empire needs to expand.
It's population grows by the thousands every day".
"But if you have enough space, then what's the point in invading
       thsi world," asked Sask.
       "It doesn't make sense!".
"Simply put," said SamuriFerret. "The Emperor has an army and he
wants to see what it can do".
Sask looked at him in a stunned silence.
"You're telling me," she began. "That you're planning to attack
ONM...just because the Empire's army needs something to do?".
       "Pretty much," said SamuriFerret, nodding.
       "But that's crazy!" protested DJ.
       "It's necessary," said SamuriFerret.
"How is it necessary?!" yelled Sask. "How is it in any way
       necessary?!"
As Sask continued to yell at the madman before them, DJ stuffed
       his hand into his pocket.
He felt something in his pocket. It was small, spherical and
       slightly squishy.
It was the Mr.Green D-Mash had given him.
DJ suddenly realized that he may have a chance here. D-Mash had
told him that merely squeezing the small, green sphere could
       help him in any situation.
He held the small sphere in his hand, not squeezing it.
Sask had calmed down and SamuriFerret had continued speaking.
"But we can't invade yet," he said. "Turns out that there are
anti-ghost defences in ONM, mainly this".
He held up a picture of a golden trophy.
"That's the international Capture The Flag trophy," said DJ.
"Indeed," said SamuriFerret. "And what many people don't know is
that it is crafted from pure awesomotanium, which wards away all
hostile ghosts in an entire dimension.
"Destroy it and the Ghost army will flood ONM".
"And it's the tournement final this weekend," said DJ.
       "Exactly," said SamuriFerret, grinning.
"what are you going to do, blow up the stadium?" asked Sask.
"Not exactly," said SamuriFerret, still smiling.

   DIR By: PsychoPikmin

       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Chapter 12
"You'd never blow up the stadium," said DJ. "It's explosion
       proof after that terrorest attack".
SamuriFerret shook his head. "We don't need to blow up the
stadium at the final," he said. "We just need to blow up the
       trophy".
"And even if we were to blow up the stadium, the awesomotanium
       wouldn't break".
       "Yeah," said Sask.
"Awesomotanium absorbs heat...an explosion would do nothing to
       it".
       "Ah-ha," said SamuriFerret.
"That's what a normal explosion would do. To get rid of
awesomotanium, you can't destroy it or blow it up".
He turned to Helmaroc, which squwarked at him loudly from behind
       the giant metal bars.
"You have to move it...and that's where the bird comes in".
"What do you mean move it?" asked Sask.
SamuriFerret turned to Darkman and nodded.
The tall and brutish man stepped forward.
"I'm sure you've heard the bedtime stories," he said. "Of how
collecting a feather from both Sacred Chickens grants you a
       wish?".
"Yeah," said DJ. "That's why we've been looking for the
       Chickens...to get that wish".
"Are you going to wish away the trophy?" asked Sask.
DJ suddenly realised that Sparkle hadn't said anything for a
       while.
He quickly glanced at her and realised why she hadn't been
       talking.
One of needles she was able to conjur up as a weapon was slowly
and silently moving across the floor, heading straight for
Mariofan and the large lights that illuminated the room.
Sparkle was going to try and turn the lights out by stabbing it
       with the needle.
DJ didn't react, but took his hand out of his pocket.
Once the lights went out, he would be able to use the Mr. Green
       and get his sword back.
       They had a chance here.
"Not exactly," said Darkman, unaware of the needle slowly moving
       behind him across the floor.
"We don't have a feather from Ho-Oh, the other Chicken.
Therefore, we can't just wish it away. But we do have a feather
       from Helmaroc".
He picked up a large, purple feather from a table behind him.
"What can you do with one feather?" asked Sask.
       Darkman grinned.
"When you make a wish using Sacred Chicken feathers, it takes an
incredible amount of energy. I'm talking trillions of
gigajoules. And that's with just two feathers".
He looked at the purple feather.
"That means this one feather contains an untapped reservoir of
       fenominal energy".
       He looked up at Sask.
"And we have a way of using it".
       "How?" asked Sask again.
       "Weaponisation," replied Darkman.
"If you were to fire this out of a launcher and at that trophy,
it would cause a time-space rupture".
"Sending the launcher's target to another dimension," said Sask
       in sudden realization.
"You know your stuff," said Darkman.
"And when the trophy isn't in this dimension, the door's wide
open for the Emperor's ghost army to invade".
"We call it Operation Wraith," said KrikenKing. "The grand fall
       of ONM".
"Well now you know," said SamuriFerret.
       "And now you die".
He nodded to the assassin behind DJ, who raised the F2000.
       But DJ had other ideas.
He swivelled round and punched the assassin in the face.
In the split second he did so, the needle Sparkle had been
sliding along the floor flew upwards and smashed through the
       large light.
Helmaroc screeched as the room was suddenly pkunged into
       darkness.
The only thing DJ could see as he darted in the direction of the
table where his sword was the green glow of the assassin's
       night-vision goggles.
There was yelling from everyone in the room and angry squwarking
       from Helmaroc.
There was a sudden bang in front of DJ: gunfire.
       Sask had found her USP.
There was an yell of pain as the bullet smacked into the
       assassin's shoulder.
DJ reached around in the darkness, and found his sword.
More gundhots were fired off, and DJ heard the shing of swords
being drawn and Sparkle's magic needles flying at random targets
       through the air.
Suddenly the was a light: an open door.
       Sask had found a door.
"DJ! Sparkle! Get your asses over here!" she yelled.
DJ scrambled towards the door. Sparkle also backed out of the
darkness, lobbing needles into the shadows.
DJ heard SamuriFerret yelling "They're getting out! Don't let
them get out, dammit! Mariofan! KrikenKing! Stop them!".
DJ, Sask and Sparkle dashed up a staircase on the other side of
       the door.
As they turned the corner at the top, a red blast of lightning
hit the wall, inches from DJ.
       "They're chasing us!" DJ yelled.
       "And they're p**sed!".
       "I gathered that!" Sask yelled.
They continued to climb the stairs, more bursts of red lightning
       narrowly missing them.
Eventually, they came out onto a roof, the cold air hitting
       their faces hard.
       "Crap," said DJ. "We're stuck".
"Over the rooves!" said Sparkle, pointing to the closest nearby
       building.
All three of them dashed to the edge of building and leapt onto
       the next roof.
Luckily for them, the buildings were either all realtively close
together or linked by a beam or levitated walkway, so they
travelled from building to building with relative ease.
Behind them, KrikenKing and Mariofan came up from the staircase.
KrikenKing pulled round a G36C assault rifle that had been on
       his back and opened fire.
DJ heard the ratter of the gun firing but did not look round.
Mariofan was about to give chase, when Krikenking held up his
hand as he lowered the G36C.
       "Wait a sec," he said.
He pulled several spheres from his belt and threw them into the
       air.
The outsides of the spheres popped off as small wings and tiny
little propellers on their top sides.
Small red lenses luminated on them and small machine guns
       appeared on their undersides.
       Andymcks. V7 to be exact.
They were small combat drones designed by KrikenKing himself.
They were useful, versetile and hard to shoot down.
The andymcks speedily flew off in the direction of DJ, Sask and
Sparkle, they small propellers whirring as they went.
"Fly my pretties..." whispered KrikenKing as he and Mariofan
       gave chase.
Several buildings over, DJ, Sask and Sparkle continued to run.
"Where do we go?" yelled DJ.
"We have to warn someone about the trophy," replied Sask.
Suddenly, small patterings of gunfire pinged off a metal rooftop
       vent nearby DJ.
But when he looked behind him, he couldn't see anyone.
"Someone's shooting at us!" he yelled, ducking suddenly as more
       small gunshots rang out.
       "There!" yelled Sparkle.
DJ saw one of the andymcks whir passed.
"What the hell is that?" he said, pulling his sword from its
       sheeth.
Sask pulled out her USP and shot another andymck nearby.
The bullet hit the small probe and it swerved around in the air,
its tiny machine gun sending shots in all directions.
       Sask shot it again.
The andymck hit the roof and bounced acoss the rooftop.
       It exploded.
DJ lost his balance and leapt off the roof too quickly. He
landed on the next roof and tripped up.
He fell and dropped his sword, which skittered across the roof.
Sask and Sparkle stopped up ahead.
       "DJ! Come on!" Sask yelled.
DJ stood up, but suddenly realised that a group of andymcks had
surrounded him and where aiming their guns at him.
"Crap," whispered DJ, bracing himself to be shredded to pieces
       by tiny little bullets.
But the little bullets didn't come.
Sparkle's needles pierced the andymcks, which sparked and fell
       to the floor.
DJ leapt over them, grabbed his sword and followed Sask and
       Sparkle.
Both andymcks exploded, in turn sending up a gas container as
       well.
The entire roof was engulfed in an explosion.
In the distance, an armed Metal Knight helicoptor was patrolling
       the nighttime skies.
       The pilot noticed the explosion.
"Metal nest, Scorpion 1," he said over the radio.
"We have an explosion close by Octave Avenue. Permission to
       check it out, over".
"Roger that, Scorpion 1, permission granted over".
The helicoptor flew over in the direction of the explosion,
spotlight scanning the area around the explosion.
The spotlight caught DJ, Sask and Sparkle running across the
rooftops, as well as KrikenKing and Mariofan going after them,
red lightning blasts arcing in their direction.
"Metal Nest, Scorpion 1, we have a rooftop chase in progress.
Both parties are hostile, repeat both parties are hostile.
Permission to pursue and neutralise, over".
"Permission granted, Scorpion 1. Shoot to kill, over".
       The helicoptor whirled around.
"Gunner, fire on my mark," said the pilot.
"Shoot to kill, repeat, shhot to kill".
       Chapter 13
The chopper gunner pulled up his thermal vision goggles as the
       minigun began to spin round.
He could see two white silouhettes running across the rooftop
       below: Mariofan and KrikenKing.
"Fire at will," said the pilot over the radio.
The gunner pulled the trigger on the minigun.
A massive rain of bullets pelted the rooftop, sending bursts of
       dust into the air.
The gunner continued to fire for several seconds, but then
       stopped.
       "Tangos are uneffected," he said.
       "They've got a shield up".
Mariofan had produced a glimmering red bubble around her and
KrikenKing, absorbing and incinerating the bullets.
"Pursue second hostile party," said the gunner.
"Roger that...no...gunner we have large numbers of aerial
       hostiles converging".
Tiny bullets pinged off the sides of the helicoptor as a large
swarm of andymcks surrounded the helicoptor.
The gunner saw them through his goggles and opened fire.
The andymcks where cut down instantly, but they exploded
violently as the bullets shredded through them.
The chopper lurched in the air as the explosions knocked it
       around in the air.
And even worse, more andymcks were approaching, all of them
firing their mini-machine guns at the chooper's hull.
And explosion knocked the gunner off balance, giving the
       andymcks an open taget.
Tiny bullets pounded into the gunner's body, knocking him back
and out of the other chopper doorway.
As the gunner's corpse fell out of the chooper and towards the
bustling streets below, the andymcks shredded straight through
the chopper's propellor supports, which caught fire.
With no propellor keeping it level, the chopper's engines began
to swerve, sending it out of control.
The chopper began to spin around in middair.
The andymcks saw their target as eliminated and whirred away in
pursuit of DJ, Saska and Sparkle.
The pilot wrenched at the controls, trying to make the chopper
       level again, but failing.
"Metal Nest, Scorpion 1, I'm going down. Unable to keep craft
       level".
"Scorpion 1, are your auxilliary engines working, over?".
"Negative, Metal Nest. I'm going down. Hostiles have control of
highly-effective aerial combat drones. They've torn me up pretty
       bad".
On the chopper's control panel, a screen began flashing red and
reading "WARNING: IMPACT IMMINENT. CALCULATED CHANCE OF CREW
       SURVIVAL: 3%".
The chopper was heading straight for the side of a skyscraper.
       The pilot grimaced.
"Metal Nest, recommend you send in a Chimera, over".
"Scorpion 1, are you sure that's necessary?".
       "Affirmative, Metal Nest".
The chopper spun round and smashed straight through the windows
of the building, its gas tank catching and exploding.
The resulting explosion knocked all the glass out of all the
       surrounding buildings.
A couple of buildings over, DJ heard the explosion. He'd also
       seen the chopper approach.
These two could defend themselves from a helicoptor minigun and
       then destroy the helicoptor.
And now they were coming after them.
More andymcks whirred around him, Sask and Sparkle, not so much
as trying to shoot them, as apposed to smack into them.
The blasts or red lightning flying over their heads didn't help
       either.
The one good thing DJ and noticed was that slashing a clean cut
straight through an andymck with his sword caused a slight delay
       before they exploded.
       The never stopped though.
Sparkle's magical needles impaled their metal shells, and Sask's
bullets knocked them back, but even if they were damaged, they
       always came back for more.
But now the three of them realised that they had another
       problem.
They were fast-approaching a building much taller than any
before them. There was also no way of getting onto it: it had
nothing attaching it to the other buildings and it was too far
       to jump.
"How do we get over that?" DJ asked.
They leapt onto the rooftop of the last building before the tall
       one.
Sask shot down several andymcks and leapt towards DJ, grabbing
       him around the waist.
"Sparkle!" Sask yelled. "You have to fly! We'll get across!".
Sparkle said nothing and nodded quickly.
As they approached the edge of the roof, the black-feathered
       wings sprouted from her back.
"What are you doing?!" DJ asked Sask.
"Just don't let go!" Sask replied.
       She tightened her grip.
       DJ's eyes widened.
"No, no, no, no!" he yelled as they approached the edge.
He tried to dig his feet into the concrete of the roof, but Sask
       kept going.
"Hold on, little brother," Sask yelled.
She leapt off the roof, USP held high.
She fired the grappling hook mod.
The hook rocketed through the air and smashed through a window.
       It held.
Sask and DJ swung forwards, straight towards the building.
"This is going to hurt!" yelled Sask.
They smashed straight through the window and into an office.
Sask let go of DJ and swung round in mid-air.
The grappling hook whipped back down through the window and into
Sask's USP, sending across the office floor.
       DJ groaned and stood up.
"Don't do that again..." he mumbled.
Sask slowly got up too. "Where's my gun...?" she asked.
DJ could hear police sirens in the streets below.
He looked out the smashed window, propping himself against a
       desk.
Mariofan suddenly appeared on the rooftop they'd just swung off.
"Crap," said DJ. "Crazy lightning bitch is here".
Mariofan stood on the edge of the roof, the moon and night sky
behind her, her blond hair lowing in the midnight wind.
She was like some kind of beautiful yet ruthless and deadly
bird, and now she'd seen her prey.
She held her hands to her sides, red lightning beginning to
       gather around her fingertips.
Slowly, the lightning began to form into crackling, red spheres.
As they began to grow larger, DJ felt a slight static in the air
       around him.
Then, she held her hands together.
The two red spheres formed into one large sphere.
       But it wasn't a sphere.
       It was changing its shape.
A ginormous, crackling, red, dragonic head reared out of the
       sphere.
It eyed DJ and roared, as though it were a real dragon.
Sask stood next to DJ and looked up at Mariofan and her giant
lightning creature, which was slowly beginning to form a body.
       "Bloody hell," she whispered.
       "She's trying to summon Shikokyrion".

       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Chapter 14
       DJ looked at his sister.
"Shikokyrion? What the hell is Shikokyrion?" he asked.
"Some kind of lightning demon," replied Sask.
"And if she summons it fully she'll torch this entire avenue".
"Then what do we do?" asked DJ.
       "Run," replied Sask simply.
She dashed across the office and tried to open the door.
       It was locked.
Outside, Mariofan's lightning demon had grown a leg and a
       massive, crackling wing.
Sask aimed her USP at the door handle and pulled the trigger.
There was a click from the gun.
"Crap," she said. "I'm out of ammo".
       DJ looked at her, frustrated.
"What?!" he yelped. "But you're never out of ammo!".
"Well screw that. Look, we have to stop from summoning that
thing. We can't just let her destroy a chunk of the city!".
"How?" asked DJ. "Throw something at her?".
And then he remembered the shurikens in his coat pocket.
He pulled out one of the sharp, star-like discs.
DJ grinned, spinning it round in his fingers.
He took aim and threw it at Mariofan.
It swung round in the night air and wheeled towards Mariofan.
It struck her painfully in the face.
"Nice," said Sask, clapping her brother on the shoulder as
Mariofan shrieked in paain, clutching a deep gash that DJ had
made in the side of her face.
The gianourmous lightning creature disappeared in an instant.
The slight static was gone too.
But the moment of victory passed quickly.
KrikenKing appeared next to his disarmed comrade.
He checked to see if she was okay and saw DJ and Sask in the
smashed window in the building opposite.
He raised his G36C and fired, smashing more windows.
DJ and Sask jumped backwards into the office, the shots
       pingingoff the window frames.
"Got anymore shurikens?" asked Sask, rigourously searching
through her coat for another ammo magazine for her USP.
"I have one, but he'll just shoot me if I try to throw it,"
       replied DJ.
"He'll just send more of those drone things in anyway," said
       Sask.
       But then the gunfire stopped.
"Is he just waiting for us?" asked Sask.
       "I don't know," said DJ.
       "You think he's reloading?".
Outside, something fell past the window on the far side of the
street, close to the building KrikenKing was standing on.
DJ could tell what it was, thanks to the moonlight reflected
roof of the windows around him.
       KrikenKing's G36C.
       He'd dropped it.
       But why?
DJ rushed to the window and looked up at the opposite rooftop.
Sparkle had flown in, bashing straight into KrikenKing and
causing him to drop his assault rifle.
Now she was on the roof, launching needles at KrikenKing and
Mariofan, who had recovered slightly from DJ's shuriken.
Sask ran over to join him.
"Found a mag," she said, pushing a new magazine into her USP.
"We should get up and help her".
She DJ by the waist again and fired her grappling hook at the
       opposite rooftop.
"Not again..." mumbled DJ as the soared out of the office and
       towards the opposite building.
It was freezing as the wind battered against his face.
Sask pushed him over and onto the rooftop, sending through the
air. DJ landed awkwardly, but was still standing.
He drew his katana just in time to block KrikenKing, who was
attacking him with thin swords that had retracted from his coat
       arms.
The two locked swords under the moonlight in the freezing night
wind, blocking and parrying with no weakness.
DJ heard gunshots and flashing bangs of lightning to his left
where Sask and Sparkle fough Mariofan relentlessly.
"Give up and die!" yelled KrikenKing, saying each ward as he
       swung his swords at DJ.
DJ pushed him away and fought back.
They locked swords, sparks flying off of them as they clanged
       together.
The pair of them desparately tried to outblock each other,
neither of them coming out victorious.
"You're a fool to think you can take on the Emperor," snarled
       KrikenKing.
"And you're a fool to capture a Sacred Chicken," growled DJ.
He tightened his grip on his sword's hilt.
"This one's for Flash7," he snarled.
A sudden burst of strength ignited in his arms, allowing him to
push away KrikenKing and punch him in the face.
As swiftly as a shark, DJ slashed on of the unactive andymcks on
KrikenKing's belt. The pieces fell to the floor.
DJ leapt back as KrikenKing stood disorintated.
The remains of the andymck exploded, sending KrikenKing tumbling
       across the rooftop.
He hit the wall around the edge with a painful thump.
DJ stood defiantly, shaken slightly but alive.
There was suddenly a deafening roar coming from above them.
       DJ looked up.
The moon was suddenly eclipsed by a large, airbourne vehicle.
It was long, and streamlined, which black armour and large jet
       engines.
On one side was a logo, the embelem of the Metal Knights.
It was a chimera gunship, the largest vehicle the Metal Knights
       had at their disposal.
It roared over their heads and turned in mid-air to face them.
Onboard, a thermal-vision camera picked out every person on the
roof, all of them illuminated up as white silouhettes against
       the grey night background.
A computer calculated the optimum position to do the most damage
       to all hostile subjects.
The large gun on the chimera's underside cast a red infra-red
beam straight across the rooftop in a sweeping position,
       emitting high-pitched whistling.
Several seconds later, the ground exploded within the path where
the red beam had swept over the rooftop.
DJ leapt out of the way but was still sent soaring across the
       rooftop.
Just as KrikenKing had, he hit the small wall around the edge of
       the roof.
The chimera slowly moved forward above him, its engines making a
whistling roar and blowing DJ's hair around.
DJ slowly tried to get up, holding his side. His leg hurt and
was slightly numb. There was a ringing in his ears.
Someone was lying on the floor before him. He limped forwards to
       see who it was.
       It was Sparkle.
The chimera's attack had knocked her out.
DJ leant down next to her, grumbling in pain as his leg hurt.
       He shook her shoulder.
"Sparkle," he said. He could barely hear himself because of the
       ringing in his ears.
The andrenaline that had allowed him to run over the rooftops
had drained away and the winter cold of the night was biting at
       his face.
He shook Sparkle's shoulder again with still no reaction.
       The chimera hovered overhead.
Something dropped out of it. Someone.
       A Metal Knight.
       Two more followed the first.
They stood tall over DJ in their purple coats and silver armour
and draconian helmets. The one who had fallen first took his
       guitar from his back.
       DJ looked around.
       He couldn't see Sask.
And Mariofan and KrikenKing were gone.
       It's brief, I know.
But I think it would be unwise to carry this rooftop chase on
       for 4 chapters...

       Chapter 15
DJ sat in the cafe, eating a muffin.
Sask sat opposite, reading another a newspaper, titled "The
       Jonowev Times".
"Well the final's going ahead," she said.
"Looks like there's going to be a load of celebrities there..."
"And a crazed group of mercenaries," mumbled DJ.
A few days had passed since they had been captured by Gostalt
       and met Chandra.
The Metal Knights that had chased away KrikenKing and Mariofan
had realized Sparkle was a mod and had apoligized.
But they'd gone to the Metal Knight HQ anyway to explain about
what Gostalt were planning to do.
The Metal Commanders had believed them, and had said they'd send
a spec-ops squad to check the building which they'd been
       captured in.
It had turned out to be just an apartment building and they'd
been in one of the attics.
But when the squad raided the building, they'd found nothing.
No traces, no weapons, no giant birds in cages.
       Gostalt had left.
The Metal Knights couldn't see what they could do, either than
bolster the already immense level of security at the Capture The
       Flag final.
But DJ was certain that Gostalt would find some way to slip in.
And now they were here on the morning of the game, with nothing
to work but the fact that Gostalt would strike.
       Hard.
And there was no way of knowing how.
The assumed at first that it would happen at the end of the game
when the trophy would be brought out into the middle of the
       stadium.
But it was possible that the trophy might be put on display to
inspire the players to do better in the game, especially as it
       was the international final.
The only thing that they could do right now was go to the
stadium and look out for anything suspiscious, which was going
to be tough, seeing as the stadium was absolutely enourmous.
Capture the flag was ONM's most popular sport, so the
international games were huge and were held in massive,
extragent stadiums, often a mile from end to end and base to the
       top of the stands.
The idea of the game was simple: there were two flags in the
stadium, one at either end of the field. Either team had to get
the other team's flag and get into their capture zone.
But the way it was played was more complicated than that.
The stadium playing area was low-gravity: players could leap
around and in between the large objects that jutted from the
       ground.
Players had to muscle the flag away from others, and thanks to
the low level of gravity and the armoured padding the players
wore, there was a very small chance of people getting hurt.
Except it wouldn't matter if anyone got hurt after tonight if
       Operation Wraith worked.
DJ didn't eat anymore of his muffin. He just stared at it.
Sparkle walked into the cafe, saw them and sat next to Sask.
"You won't believe it," she said. "But I have a way".
"A way of what?" asked Sask.
"Finding Gostalt at the game," Sparkle said. "Well, just
       Mariofan actually".
       "How?" asked DJ, sitting forward.
Sparkle took out a black pouch and unzipped it.
She pulled out what looked like a pair of night-vision goggles.
       "Night-vision?" said DJ, looking confused.
       "Close," said Sparkle.
"These goggles have night-vision, thermal-vision and it picks up
       darkness energy".
       "Darkness energy?" DJ asked.
"On the night, right," Sparkle said. "Mariofan tried to summon
that lightning demon on the roof.
"And summoning large demons like that releases a lot of darkness
energy, which means that Mariofan will be drenched in darkness
       energy".
       Sask nodded slowly.
"So...we'll be able to see her in the stadium?" she asked,
picking up the goggles and examining them.
"Just her," said Sparkle. "Maybe KrikenKing...although if any of
them work with ghosts and stuff there's a good chance that
       they'll all be visible".
"Well it's a step forward," said DJ.
"It's the only chance we have," said Sask.
"Someone's going to have to sit somewhere were the entire
       stadium is visible".
DJ tried moving through the bustling corridors of the stadium,
but it was hard when moving against the crowds of people who all
wore puffy warm clothes which filled up the hallway.
He was in the stadium, at the final.
He'd snuk into the stadium through a locker room. Sask was
       somewhere else in the stadium.
DJ had his mobile phone clutched in his hand.
He hadn't used it much since he'd left on his quest for the
Chickens, but now he was going to need it more than ever.
He felt the phone vibrate all of a sudden. He checked the
       number: Sparkle.
DJ answered and pressed the phone to his ear so that he could
       hear properly.
       "Yeah?"
"I still can't see her," Sparkle said over the phone. "There's
nothing right now...and it's bloody freezing up here!"
Sparkle was currently sitting on the rooftop of a massive tower
that overlooked the stadium, which was very high considering the
stadium was a mile across and upwards.
She had a scarf and a large box of heat-releasing cookies to
       keep her warm.
She also had the darkness-seeking goggles which would allow her
to see Mariofan, who would no doubt be in the stadium somewhere.
"Well keep watching," said DJ. "Ring me or Sask when you see
       anything".
"Okay," replied Sparkle. She hung up.
Up on the building, Sparkle's body shook in the biting cold.
She breathed out and hugged her arms.
She wasn't sure how she'd gotten into this situation, but she
was here now and she couldn't protest.
Picking up a heat cookie, she lifted up a heat cookie and
munched it down. Her chest felt warm as it went down her throat.
She rubbed her eyes with a mittened hand and put the goggles
       back over her eyes.
Everything was a dark shade of blue, with faint black outlines.
       But there was something else.
       Down in the stadium.
A red flicker in the stands around the playing area.
       Darkness energy.
It was slowly moving across the stands.
Sparkle moved forward slightly in her seated position.
       She picked up her phone.
DJ was in the stands, in section 77X.
The playing area reared up before him, surrounded by giant metal
pillars every hundred meters that kept the low-gravity in place.
Floodlights lit the entire stadium magnificently, the crowds
already yelling for the two teams to come on and play.
It was one of the most immense things DJ had ever seen.
But no kind of feeling of awe awakened in his mind.
       He was too tense.
If Operation Wraith worked...well, DJ didn't want to think of
what would happen if it worked. Everything here would be
       destroyed in the invasion.
He sat down in the least crowded area he could find, which was
quite crowded and watched as the two final teams - DS Phoenixes
and Graphics Panthers, drifted into the playing area in the low
       level of gravity.
The crowds around DJ leapt up with a thunderous, deafening roar
       of applaud.
DJ didn't so much as wince at the noise for some reason: he was
       too tense.
Besides, the team he supported, the Off Topic Gators, had been
knocked out a few rounds ago by the WiiWare Armadillos, so he
       wasn't all that bothered.
As the teams lined up to sing their nation's national anthem, DJ
felt his mobile vibrate in his pocket.
       "Sparkle?" he asked.
       "I see her".
A sudden pang of andrenaline rushed through DJ's body.
He looked up at the tall building in the dark distance where
Sparkle was sitting on the roof.
       "Where?" he asked slowly.
       "In the stands".
       "Can you tell what section?"
       "Er...hold on".
DJ looked around him in the stands for a blonde woman with a
gash in the side of her face, but the legions-upon-legions of
people standing to sing the DS national anthem had created a
wall around him, so he could barely see anyone.
       Sparkle returned to the phone.
       "She's in section 77X".
       The rush of andrenaline increased.
       "...I'm in 77X," he said.
       "Oh...okay...where, exactly?".
       DJ looked around him.
"I don't know...I'm close to the left entrance".
Up on the roof of the building, Sparkle used the goggles' zoom
feature to scan the stands in more detail.
"I can't tell who you are," she said. "But...she's right by the
       staircase...close by the right entrance...I think she's on a
       phone".
       DJ gulped.
"I bet she's talking to another member of Gostalt," he said.
"They're about to move. They're going to move when the game's
       started.
Members in the crowd had started sing the Graphics national
       anthem.
"Dammit...I'll try and find her," DJ said. "Call Sask. Tell her
where I am and where Mariofan is...we have to hurry up".
"Okay, be careful," replied Sparkle, hanging up.
DJ stood up and squashed past the people around him singing the
anthem ubtil he came out on the stone staircase that ran between
       the rows of seats.
He dashed to the top, looked around for the right entrance, ran
towards it and looked down the stairway.
       There.
He saw the back of a woman's head, her head golden blonde.
       Mariofan.
And just as Sparkle had said, she was speaking on a mobile
       phone.
DJ stood at the top of the steps and stared down at her.
He could just silently dash up behind her and stab her in the
       back right now.
       He made a fist.
No. He wasn't the one planning on killing people here.
       She was.
Slowly, DJ went down the steps.
Fortunatley, there was a seat right behind her. He would be able
to hear what she was saying.
He quickly sat in the seat and just looked at her head for a few
       seconds.
       Then, he leaned forwards slightly.
"So you are in position, then?"
DJ gulped again. He knew it. She was talking to whoever had the
       feather.
       "Yeah...yeah...okay...will do".
At that point, she flipped her phone shut and stood up, getting
       out of her seat.
DJ swiftly looked away from the staricase to avoid her seeing
       his face.
After a few seconds, he turned back to face the staircase.
But Mariofan was there. Right in front of him, her pretty face
       grinning with sadistic pleasure.
There was a plaster across her face from where
       She leant forwards.
"Come with me now or I'll fry your ass," she whispered.
DJ nodded slowly and stood up.
She grabbed his arm and dragged him up the steps, through the
       entrance and into the corridor.
DJ thought of grabbing his katana, but he'd be caught up as the
bad guy and the stadium security would be all over him.
Mariofan lead him into a unisex toilet, pulled out a silenced
mini-uzi and fired at the ceiling.
Everyone in the toilet looked up.
       "Get out!" Mariofan yelled.
Everyone in the toilet quickly ran out until only Mariofan and
       DJ remained.
Mariofan grinned and slammed DJ against the wall, grinning.
"I'll have this," she whispered, sounding like whatever kind of
pain she was about to inflict on him would be pure pleasure to
       her.
She grabbed his sword from his sheath and threw it to the other
       end of the room.
Then she threw DJ onto the tiled floor, bashing his head.
His vision shook as he hit the ground.
Mariofan crouched down on top of him, throwing her uzi to one
       side.
"This," she said, pointing to the plaster on her face.
       "Hurt".
Mariofan grabbed his coat collars and lifted him up with
       surprising strength.
She tossed him to the other side of the toilet, following him.
Red sparks started to arc between her fingers as she approached
       him.
DJ tried to jump up, but his head hurt and his vision had
       blurred slightly.
But before Mariofan did anything, her phone rang.
       She grimaced.
       "One second," she said.
       She flipped her phone open.
       "Yes?"
DJ slwoly tried to sit up.
       "Yeah...yeah, we've been compromised, Darkman...yes, I'm dealing
with it...it's one of the rats who got away from me and
       KrikenKing..."
DJ saw his sword underneath a sink to his left.
"Swixer's on the roof with the feather...I don't know. I think
       we're still moving mid-game...I don't know".
       The roof.
That's where they had the feather.
If he could just get away...
"Will do," said Mariofan, flipping her phone shut and looking
       back down at DJ.
       "Anyway," she said.
She raised her hand as scarlet sparks began to dance between her
       fingers.

       Chapter 16
       It is dark.
A single circle of light in the centre of the nothing.
A man walks into the light.
He wears a black beanie-cap, a black coat, black jeans, black
       shoes and a grey shirt.
His eyes held the brownest knowledge of an owl.
He spoke, unto an unknown audience within the shadows.
"And so, as the first steps are taken on the final journey, we
find ourselves at a certain climax as the pieces begin to fall
       into place.
"The maniacs have started their dreaded operation of destruction
and the travellers are rushing to stop them.
"There's the brother, eager to find the birds that will bring
him his joy, yet he leaps headlong into these cantakerous
dilemmas that may well be his untimely end.
"There's the moderator, her dimanner coming out bubbily, her
mind tormented by the loss of the man she still has feelings of
affection towards, the man she has no idea that she shall
       confront within the coming hours.
"There's the dark invader, who lies within the mind and body of
the old hero, who's confidence for the coming bloodshed is
       incomparable on any measure.
"There's the pair, the man and woman who the travellors have yet
to encounter, but who shall aid, yet hinder them on their not-so
       great crusade.
"And then...there's the sister. The one who fights valiently and
       observes cooly.
"But she is the one who shall fall. The one who's strength and
observational prowess shall bite the dust before the fires of
       this story burn out.
"And then the final choice shall be made".
"The choice that shall create the conclusion, the choice that
       not even I can determine".
"The choice that will vanquish the fog that shrouds the
       uncertain future".
"But more has yet to come before arcitecture of this endeavour
either stands tall or collapses apon existance".
"Everything will come together soon. It always comes together".
"I know it, I've seen it, I've been cursed by it".
"And as the bloody dawn rises upon the world, the travellors
shall know what they stand against, and what they shall lose
       against it".
"The secrets held within the clutches of the darkness shall soon
reveal themselves and play their part in history".
       "This...will be interesting".
He turns away, walking back into the enthralling dark.
       It's short, but important.

       Chapter 17
Mariofan raised her crackling hand at DJ, who backed up
       slightly.
His sword was almost directly to his right.
Red lightning danced and arced up and down Mariofan's arm.
"I wish you hadn't slashed my face up with that shuriken of
       yours," she said.
"That way, I could have summoned Shikokyrion...you would've
gotten a much more magnificent death that way".
She stepped forward, giving DJ nowhere to run.
He couldn't dive to the side to grab his sword now.
Mariofan's lightning would have a shotgun effect, striking his
       entire body.
He slumped down, realising that his doom was upon him.
The lightning continued to crackle up Mariofan's arm.
       "Goodbye," she whispered sadistically.
The lightning arced, striking DJ's body.
The first few seconds were blissful, as DJ's limbs spasmed.
But then the pain slammed into him like a flaming cinderblock.
He screamed as red sparks danced over his skin, stabbing him
       with invisible knives.
Somehow, he was able to think past the pain, as though it was
ripping his very essence awy from him.
He could hear roaring. Terrible, snarling and roaring.
       This wasn't just lightning.
It was darkness energy, the very stuff that demons were made of.
Mariofan wasn't just frying him, she was feeding his body to the
       demons that dwelled within her.
       But then it stopped.
       The immediate pain was gone.
       DJ's body felt numb.
       He was having trouble breathing.
       He looked up at Mariofan.
She'd turned away from him to face something else.
       Someone else.
       Sask.
She held her USP high and was yelling at Mariofan, who yelled
       back.
       But DJ couldn't tell what.
       Ringing filled his ears.
But he knew what to do.
He looked up at Mariofan before him and then to his katana to
       his left.
Slowly, DJ crawled across the tiled floor towards his blade.
       He grabbed its hilt.
It hurt to make fist around the handle.
But DJ managed to stand up, propping himself against the wall.
He realised his nose was bleeding.
       He didn't care.
He reached out and tapped Mariofan's shoulder.
She turned round suddenly, silently to DJ.
The blade came out crimson from Mariofan's back.
Instantly, the breath was knocked out of her body.
Her black jumper started to glistening as the blood soaked into
       it.
She looked down at the sword that was jammed through her
stomach, her body making small jerks.
Then she looked back up at DJ.
       She was smiling.
       Not sadistically, but properly.
       With joy.
She took the hand that DJ had on the sword hilt and pushed it
       off.
DJ couldn't resist. The lightning pains were still too great for
       him.
Mariofan grabbed the hilt with two hands and slowly pulled the
       sword out of her stomach.
She handed it to DJ, who took it, unsure what to expect.
Mariofan stood for a few seconds and then fell forwards, into
       DJ, who instinctively grabbed her.
"Thank you," she whispered. "You've...released me...thank you".
       She went limp.
DJ just stood against the wall, Mariofan in his arms.
       Released her?
Sask slowly walked over, USP lowered.
"Are you okay?" she asked DJ.
       DJ nodded.
"She said...I released her," he said.
       "What does that mean?"
Sask stepped forwards and took Mariofan's body from DJ's arms.
She lowered it to the floor.
"I think...she was possessed...or omened," she said, putting two
fingers of Mariofan's eyes and closing them.
"It was Shikokyrion...it would have been put inside of her. She
would have just been a normal person".
DJ looked own at the bloody sword in his hand and then back at
       Sask.
"They can just do that?" he asked.
"The Ghost Empire can just put demons inside people?"
Sask nodded, looking at Mariofan's corpse.
"Well...she's at peace now," she said.
"Anyways, we have to find the feather...Gostalt will probably
       strike soon.
DJ stood upright. He felt a bit faint, but could still stand.
"Mariofan said that the feather was on the roof".
       Sask stood up, nodding.
"Then we get to the roof," she said.
"We'll come back for Mariofan later..."
DJ washed his sword of blood in a sink.
       "What...just leave her here?"
"We'll block the door," said Sask.
       "Nobody'll come in that way".
She grabbed a notebook and pen from one of her coat pockets.
She wrote "TOILETS OUT OF SERVICE" on it and left for the door.
"Let's kick some ass," she said.
DJ nodded, placing his sword back in its sheath.
As he left, he looked down at Mariofan.
       "You're welcome," he whispered.
DJ and Sask ran up every staircase they could find, slipping
       through every STAFF ONLY door.
Sask had phoned Sparkle and told them where they were going.
Sparkle was to watch the roof with thermal visions and tell them
       what she saw.
DJ was having some trouble running through the seemingly miles
       of stadium corridor.
His ribs hurt after Mariofan's lightning strike, and he got
       stitches very easily.
But then he tried to ignore the pains when they started to reach
floors with nobody around, where the air was cold with the night
       air.
They were close to the roof.
They arrived on a floor with metal floors and scaffold-esque
       walls.
On one side, the game of Capture The Flag continued a mile
below, the player leaping around in the low gravity.
       Sask's phone rang. She answered.
       "Sparkle?" she said.
There was a pause as Sask listened to what was being said over
       the phone.
DJ guessed something was up when she drew her USP.
"Okay...we're on it. Get down here".
She put her phone away and turned to DJ.
"She sees two people up on the very top of the stadium".
       She paused.
"One of them's holding something - a tube".
       "A launcher," replied DJ.
Sask nodded and ran doen the metal corridor.
"Sparkle's going to fly down and help us".
They saw no staircases, but eventually came across a ladder that
hung from the ceiling and into a hatch.
They both climbed it and up out of the hatch.
They came out onto a walkway, surrounded by steel bars.
Night had fallen into its late hours and it was snowing.
The moon was high and the lights of the city around the stadium
       were spectacular.
The entire stadium sprawled out below them.
Sask scanned the surrounding parts of the walkway...and saw
       movement.
Two dark silouhettes moved in the distance on the walkway.
Indeed, one was holding a launching tube.
Sask broke into a run, dashing through the snowy air, boots
clonking on the metal beneath her feet.
DJ drew his sword and followed her.
The lightning pains had been replaced by nervousness and fear
and the cold and suddenly made him very alert, making him run
       faster than usual.
Sask raised her USP and fired at the silouhettes.
One of them noticed them and the second one stopped and began
       doing something.
       He was loading the launcher.
The second, taller figure started strolling towards Sask and DJ,
       drawing a sword.
       It was SamuraiFerret.
Sask fired more shots in his direction.
SamuraiFerret occasionally raised his blade to deflect a bullet
       that came close enough.
DJ ran forward, eyes locked on SamuraiFerret.
       They locked swords.
SamuraiFerret's twinblade was long and his strikes powerful.
       He was hard to block.
       Sask hung back, USP raised.
SamuraiFerret swiped sideways, his massive twinblade sweeping
straight across the extent of the walkway.
DJ ducked under it and tried to drive forward, but
SamuraiFerret's spiny tail swung round, knocking DJ's sword
       away.
DJ was knocked off guard and SamuraiFerret kicked him in the
       chest.
He slid across the cold metal floor, the snow freezing his face.
SamuraiFerret stood over him, twinblade to his side.
"You're too late," he said, having to yell above the roaring
       crowds watching the game below.
"The invasion WILL commence as we planned".
       He raised the long sword.
"I knew I should have killed you when we had you pinned down".
       Sask shot him.
       SamuraiFerret deflected it.
DJ stood back up. His hands were freezing.
Further along the walkway, the other figure continued to fumble
       with the launcher.
       DJ grimaced.
       No. They weren't going to.
He grabbed the Mr Green from his pocket, squeezed it and through
it down onto the metal floor.
SamuraiFerret looked down at it and sniggered.
"...the hell was that?" he asked.
"Angry that I'm not going move or something?".
       DJ looked down.
The small green sphere was starting to vibrate.
It began jumping around in the snow.
       And then it was flying.
       SamuraiFerret was confused.
       "What the-".
The Mr Green suddenly doubled in size.
       Then tripled.
       Then quadrupled.
It was getting bigger and bigger in the air every second, the
grinning face's smile getting larger and more ridiculous.
It floated around like a remote-controlled balloon.
And then the grinning eyes opened.
They were bloodshot, the small pupils darting around.
It seemed to recognise DJ and Sask.
And then it turned to SamuraiFerret.
The teeth in its grin opened up mechanically.
SamuraiFerret pulled a ranger shotgun from his coat and fired
two successive shots at the Mr Green, doing no damage
       whatsoever.
A huge stream of fire blasted out of the Mr Green's mouth.
SamuraiFerret leapt away as the Mr Green followed him, its
       flames torching the walkway.
       Sask looked at DJ.
"Where'd you get that?" she asked.
"D-Mash gave it to me," he said.
Sask raised an eyebrow and shook her head.
       "Come on," she said.
"We have to get to the feather".
They slowly moved forward, following the Mr Green as it pursued
       SamuraiFerret.
But the Mr Green didn't last much longer.
SamuraiFerret pulled out a frag grenade and pulled the pin.
He lobbed it into the flames spewing from the Mr Green's mouth.
It exploded. The Mr Green absorbed the entire blast and was
       shredded to pieces.
Large pieces of ripped green material flittered in the snowy
       air.
DJ dashed forward, sword at his side.
But SamuraiFerret was nowhere to be seen.
Had he been caught in the explosion?
Sask ran past him towards the other figure with the launcher and
       the feather.
Suddenly, SamuraiFerret reappeared, as though he'd literally
materialised out of the night air.
He raised his reloaded ranger shotgun towards her.
       But Sask was too quick.
She slid straight under his legs and past his tail, leapt back
up and continued towards the other figure.
DJ attacked SamuraiFerret before he could fight back.
The two of them locked swords in the night air, the snow
       swirling around them.
Swixer raised the launcher - a modified JAVELIN.
The feather had been loaded into a small rocket drone, which
would fly high into the air and then drop straight down onto the
       trophy.
And then the invasion would begin.
He looked down the scope and searched around for the trophy down
       in the lower stands.
Something pinged off the metal floor close by him.
       He looked up.
Sask was dashing towards him, firing shots with her USP.
Swixer swore and put down the launcher.
He pulled up his goggles and picked up his Vector submachine
       gun.
He fired a small burst of shots.
Sask rolled asn they missed. She was too far off.
Swixer suddenly heard a clunk behind him.
       He turned to see what.
It was Sparkle, her black feathered wings spread out on her
back. She'd flown down to help.
Immediatly, needles materialised in the air around her.
But as Swixer turned to face her, she stopped.
The look on her face changed completely, from determination to
       horrified realization.
       Sparkle was speachless.
       Completely and utterly.
The needles hovering around her suddenly dropped out of the
snowy air and clinked across the walkway floor.
She stared at her ex-fiance. It was him.
He was the assassin she had been hunting down.
He was the one she had once planned to marry.
       He was...part of Gostalt.
Swixer looked back at her, the expression on his face slightly
       forlorn.
       "...Swixer?" Sparkle whispered.
Sask had realized something was wrong and continued to walk
       forwards.
       "Sparkle...? What's wrong?"
Sparkle shook her head, not to answer Sask's question but in
       disbelief.
       "Why...why...why Swix?"
       Swixer said nothing.
Suddenly, a bleeping noise emitted from the launcher.
It was locked onto the trophy, down in the stadium.
Swixer breathed out heavily and pulled the launcher's trigger.
       Sask's eyes widened.
       "NO!" she yelled.
A small object jumped from the launcher, ignited and soared
       upwards into the sky.
Sask fired her entire magazine at Swixer, who had already
ignited his jetpack and was flying away into the snowy night
       sky.
Sparkle watched him go, unable to speak.
DJ and SamuraiFerret continued their duel further back on the
       walkway.
SamuraiFerret's immense twinblade sweeped across the entire
walkway, making it hard to block, so DJ had to keeping ducking
under it, which gave SamuraiFerret the chance to kick him.
They locked swords, parried around each other and stood apart on
       the walkway.
But then they were both distracted by a sudden whooshing sound.
DJ looked up to see an object rocket into the sky.
       The feather.
       DJ swore.
       SamuraiFerret grinned.
He instantly leapt over the railing around the walkway and
dashed over the expanse of the stadium roof towards the edge.
DJ grabbed a shuriken from his pocket and lobbed it at
SamuraiFerret in one last attempt to stop him.
The shuriken plowed into his leg, causing SamuraiFerret to yell
       in pain.
He tripped, fell and cascaded towards the edge of the stadium.
But he vanished into the night just before he fell.
       DJ grimaced.
       They'd lost.
He looked back up at the fired feather.
It had changed into its drone form and was rocketing straight
towards the lower stands within the stdium.
A sudden feeling of dispondence washed over DJ.
He felt completely helpless as he watched the drone fly down,
       down, down...
