Please share your story.
How long did you wait for diagnosis?
How long did you accept that something is not right before
decided to visit your doctor?
How your family reacts?

My health problems started about 2.5 years ago. I felt super
tired, my muscles were sore and exhausted, but I have blamed it
on work and stress, I was working in a hospital 12h shifts,
taking overtime as often as possible because of financial
problems. Those caused a lot of stress in addition to
relationship problems. You can see why I have assumed its just
stress or being tired. I would work 2 days in a row, then I
would get fever, I would feel flu like and needed to sleep for
18 hours. WE have sorted out our marriage issues, finances
started to improve, but how I felt didn't.
I was sleeping a lot, taking care of kids basically like zombie.
Our meals started to be just pasta and sauce from jar. I didn't
have any energy.
when I was walking up the stairs I have sounded horribly,
couldn't catch a breath, couldn't sleep.
Finally I went to my GP and said, I just feel like I am super
old, everything is so hard, even though things at home were
super, I was a wreckage.
My doctor ordered some bloods and gave me Amitriptyline for
shooting pain in my arms and so I would sleep better. And it
helped for few days, then everything was even worse. Pain in my
arm and hand, burning, shooting and squeezing, pins and needles
and lost of strengths and sensation. I couldn't hold a cup. I
had neck MRI - normal. Doctor ordered chest x-ray as for over 4
years I have reoccurring pain in my left side, it feels like
super intense bruise on my lowest rib, I cannot walk when it
happens, and then its passing after few days. X-ray was normal,
the same as all bloods.
I started to take Gabapentin, gained weight because of med and
lack of movement. At some point I went to some doctor, not even
mine, and said, do you think it could be Fibromyalgia, and she
said, "Yes. Let's agree on that" and suddenly I felt like they
dont care anymore, every time I would go to ER or to my GP
because of new symptom they would be like "yeah you have fibro,
no more tests for you"
I am at the point when I cannot work because of pain and
fatigue, I cant get financial help because apparently "I am not
sick enough" or maybe I am too young (not even 30)
Now finally I have convinced my Doctor that he should do brain
MRI to see if I dont have MS, because every single symptom is
almost perfect match with MS. We will see what the results will
be.
