better brake shoes

Watching "wheeler dealers" the other day and Ed China
transformed a 1965 Volvo`s braking by using Kevlar based brake
shoes which nearly tripled the friction coefficient...
does anyone know if you can get these shoes for 10" landys and
if so, where?

Never heard of kevlar shoes, but the last time I fixed my
brakes, I took the old drums and shoes to a local brake
workshop, they machined the inside of the drums, put oversized
brake liner on the old shoes, and grinded the shoes to an exact
fit with the drums. Result= 4 black lines on the tarmac when I
hit the brake hard! No new "standard" show or drum can ever
match this in my opinion, parts are made out of spec, by
different companies. Only in having them made to fit can you use
the full potential of the drum brake (in my hunble opinion).
Oh, forgot to mention, it's an late 88, so TLS in the front ans
SLS in the back. Engine is a 200Di, so effective vacum pump
which also helps a great deal over the ol' butterfly valve in
the inlet manifold....
Cheers!
