I made a dropper for the back of steif's 109 seeing as how much
the things seem to fetch. Cost a couple of hours with grinder
mag drill and welder, but parts cost nowt as they were out of
the scrap bin. Can post a picture tomorrow night if your
interested, simple construction though.

Cheers again guys, I've enquired how much a proper adapter would
be from Blanchards. ::)
But a 10 to 15mm thk plate with eight holes in and some tube
spacers (or BIG FO washers) could be a possibly.

I've got the NATO on a Dixon-Bate on the 88 (which has a
military crossmember) and I don't like it as the hitch is too
low in my opinion, even on the highest setting. When I can be
arsed sourcing some ½" UNF x 5¼" long bolts to secure it
directly I will do. Civvy trailers are gay anyway. ;)

Dixon Bate here as well! I have three sliders for mine - 2"
ball, NATO and a big pin hitch too. Much more useful than a
standard drop plate. I haven't found mine too low, in fact a
sankey can tow pretty level on my vehicle (Sankey gratefully
borrowed from gmtseries3 of this parish)

The Sankey isn't too bad on mine, the Rapier is too arse-up for
my liking. There again, the Shitpart sagged parabolics won't be
helping I'm sure. :-[

On a slight tangent Noel.... have you thought about unbolting
the nato hitch from its carrier and turning the carrier upside
down? It'll still fit on and will move the hitch those couple of
inches higher up?

^^^^ This. It will sit higher then than it would do if bolted
direct to the crossmember. FWIW though, I have mine fitted
exactly as yours is and I don't think it's too low. Mine is on a
109" with 235/85 tyres though, an 88" on little tyres will
obviously sit lower...
Glen.

Noel can you unbolt and spin the hitch half a turn on its slider
thing? That'll put it almost up where it should be.

That's a very good point - never thought of that. Doh! Glen, the
88 is on 255/85R16s so should be sitting a fair bit higher than
standard anyway. I have got a set of TIC parabolics on the s3
one ton, I must get around to swapping them onto the 88 as the
Shitpart are hopeless.
