       Window seal replacement
       By: kiwi s3 Date: July 31, 2018, 5:01 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Hi everyone,
I'm finally getting round to replacing the seals around the
fixed glass in my hard top 88" - side windows, rear small
windows & cat-flap. They have been leaking for years and on the
rare occasions when I wash the landrover, I end up with black
       crap everywhere.
       Any tips before start?
I've heard some people put the filler strip on the inside for
better security (not that I'm too concerned about that)
Where should the joins be - at the top of the glass or the
       bottom?
Should the join of the filler strip be opposite to the join in
       the seal?
Do I need one of those special tools to insert the filler strip?
Do the small rear windows use a narrower seal to fit the tighter
       corners?
Any guidance is appreciated as I'm already not looking forward
       to the job.
       Thanks,
       Mark,
       Wellington NZ.

Join is best at the bottom, never used a special tool myself.
Here is a link to an NZ site you may find useful.

They stock rubber trim and sealing strip, and even sponge rubber
       door seals.
       Cheers, Jack.

Thanks Jack. I'll put an order in for 10m of seal and have a go.

       Hi Jack,
I now have the window seal. Basis have been out of stock for a
while, but got some in last week - which just happened to
coincide with a trip to Blenheim I had planned. So drove the 15
minutes to Renwick and picked it up in person. That place is
amazing - a classic car parts shop, a museum, a model shop and a
tool shop all rolled into one! Add in the friendly proprietors
and I could have spent all day there...
Just need to get cracking with installing the seal, starting
with the top hatch as the who thing needs a refurb and repaint.
       Cheers,
       Mark.
