Hard stuff on one spark plug

I had an intermittent misfire yesterday so I took the plugs out
last night for a look. They were all fine except for number
two, which had a lot of hard stuff built up around the
electrodes and base. It wouldn't come off with a wire brush, i
had to get a knife on it. It was like rock! The plugs are all
new (3 months) and the ignition system is all fine. The head
was replaced 18 months ago and it's been running really nicely.
Any idea what could be causing it?

The only thing I can think of is an oil/water leak into the pot,
and the oil/water is all getting burnt off leaving some shit
behind. I will try re-torquing the head bolts and if that's no
good I will whip it off. When it's a bit warmer, obviously...
