       Roof bars

Looking at buying some UltiBars off of flea bay - says they fit
defender but not series. Anyone know if the roof height above
the gutter is different between a series (2/3) and a defender?
Or the gutter depth? If not I'll wander round town later with a
tape measure looking for a defender to measure....

       Series have a ribbed roof.
       That could cause clearance issues..

Well they are listed as for Debender from 1991 onward so that
may be post-rib. Anyhow the lovely lass at the manufacturer
gave me some dimensions and they would appear to fit so I have
ordered some up - will find out if they are any good at the
       weekend.

Bought the bars, they fit and appear to be of good quality.
Nice and light, plenty of clearance above the roof. Had no
trouble using them to fetch a load of timber this morning. Much
easier to get on and off than the Paddock "basket" roof rack,
and doesn't have the detrimental effect on performance!
