Thanks for all the advice. New diff went in very easily, no
problems. There's perhaps a bit of resonance at 60mph which I
didn't have before, but very minor. Is there a "wearing in"
       period with a rebuilt diff?

The resonance has stopped now after maybe 50 miles, some of
which is at 60mph. I can't explain it, perhaps it takes a while
for the oil to properly get in everywhere. Anyhow, it's all
       good.

Lovely, I'll let you know I when I next go laning, and you can
       test it properly. :smilewide:

The old girl retired from laning in her late forties after my
idiot mate pulled the front bumper and half the chassis off by
taking an unnecessarily long run up with a boingy tow rope.
She still runs a bit rough whenever I slow down near a turning
       with a track...

Mines retired too you know, The lanes I do will be gentle
bumbles across fields, mostly in 2WD.
My mud plugging days are over. :)

I didn't see this thread until today. In future / or other
folks having a similar issue with diffs I can recommend a direct
exchange at a fair price from:

I did look at ashcroft and others but the one via eBay was
       cheapest...
