       Jumping out of reverse

       Hello All,
My Series 3 (1982, 2286cc Petrol) has jumped out of gear ever
since I "overhauled" the gearbox (replaced bearings and badly
worn gears), three years ago. I'm wondering what I may have done
       to cause this?
Could it be that the selector fork is too far along the shaft?
Is there anything else I should look for? All forward gears are
okay and reverse is okay for about 20 yards before popping out.
It's finally got to annoying me enough to want to fix it...
       All suggestions welcomed!
       With Thanks,
       Stu.
