Hi,
It is a normal RH thread "nut". It is normally a PITA to undo.
Three methods, starting with the most "politically correct".
1. Put big chocks behind all four wheels. Pull hand brake on as
hard as you can. Engage top gear and 4WD-Hi.. Find about 3ft
long scaffold pipe. Use scaffold pipe to turn 3/4" drive socket,
1/2" to 3/4" adaptor, and a breaker bar that you bought from
Halfords ... so you can take it back when it breaks. Your Landy
will reverse over the chocks ... using a lower gear will make it
worse. Having a mate stand on the brake pedal MAY help.
2. Use a long chisel and 1lb ball-pein hammer to undo the nut.
It might come undone stupidly easily ... kinetics have more
force than brute strength ... but it knackers the nut.
3. Apply big socket and grunt bar, hold in place with a LONG
stick poked through the starting handle hole in the front
bumper. Stand well clear. Get a mate to press the starter button
(immobilise ignition.) Engine and bar will spin ... bar will hit
the chassis - and stop ... momentum will keep engine turning ...
nut will unscrew. I am not suggesting that you use this method
... it could be dangerous ... but people do.

Thanks for the advice, second method worked but with a 4lb
hammer and a blowtorch.
Now has anybody got a piston and conrod lying about that I could
purchase??
