Water pump interchangeability

As per thread title, does anyone know if the water pump for a
17H engine (2.5 petrol) will fit on the timing case of a metric
SIII 2.25 petrol engine, and still have the pulley line up
properly?

I'm thinking back to when I stuck the 2.5 petrol in my 88, if I
remember correctly the 2.5 pump uses the same size bolts
throughout and the 2.25 pump has two different sizes of bolt. On
the pulley subject I'm not 100% sure but I think it'll all line
up. I'm running the 2.5 pulley. I've only recently twigged
that's probably responsible for my hot running as it is a larger
diameter as the big plastic fan on a 2.5 doesn't spin as fast as
the metal series fan.
