Deetons Metal Centre near Staveley tend to have a series or 2 in
their yard most the times I've visited, though last time I went
they just had an M reg 2.25D 209 and a late turbo diesel 110CSW
fitted with some form of 6 pot diesel and on french numberplates
(RHD though). That along with the usual colection of discos and
late RRCs that every scrappy seems to have these days.
Yards I've found more useful/interesting than most in the area
are Wilf Jays (donny motor spares, near the end of parkway,
rather more old fassioned than the rest of the DMS sites where
you have to order your part from the racked cars for them to
remove them from) stock is good but usally a bit modern; Coopers
car spares round the back of the owlerton statium (though you
now have to drive the long way round to get there since the
bridge washed away), seen a series in there before; and AR autos
(pink place next to the railway bridge on London road), never
seen a series in there but they do seem to get a few interesting
older classics in from time to time.
None of the others seem woth the effort. I'll probubly be
looking for a new radiator tomorrow so might have a look at
latest stocks in deetons at least.

Dave - I believe Ron Hull has a class 37 (895?) buried in a
mountain of scrap in the yard! It was for sale after the
original preservation attempt fell through.

A few years back, whilst visiting a yard owned by one of my ex's
cousins, I spotted the remains of an ex mil. 109 fitted with a
truck cab.
Asked him nonchalantly, "how much for the truck cab?"
He wanted about a tenner for it, so I scrambled up the pile &
took it away.
The reason for my being nonchalant? - the truck cab had a mint
tropical panel on it, & I really had to try & hide my semi.
I still have the panel to this day. - they're 'rare' you know.
:D

This one has been at a scrapyard down here for a couple of
months now, it seems more naked each time I see it.
