Evening folks
Well living in the Steel city area, it has also became the
centre for scrap metal recycling aparently :-\
Well anyway, long story short, i went to school with Ronald Hull
Jr who now owns Ron Hull metal recycling and Ron Hull Jr waste
recyclers. Well us being best mates at school but both being in
two very difeent industries he is in his and i'm in farming
being good friends also brings great business benefits too.
I mentioned a while back i had a series 1 80" and if anything
came in land rover wise to put it to one side for me and i would
go down and have a look.
Several things i wanted i listed down (whilst dreaming)
Ali Bulkhead
overdrive
free wheeling hubs
body panels
etc
Well anyway i got a phone call earlier to come down for a brew
and see what he had pulled out for me, despite being a
millionaire he still works the shop/ yard floorso see's what
come in straight away....lots of big toys to play with too
aparently!!! After much tea drinking and cake eating he ferrys
me over to his non ferrous shed and GIVES me this off of ze
list:

Top mate or what!! I insisted on opaying but he wouldn't have
any of it. So if any one knows anyone in the scrap game it might
be worth asking if they can get hold of anything series land
rover related DO IT!!!
I need to get the linkage for the od, but apart from that the
bearing and everything from in the gearbox are there.
Well Chuffed after nearly forking out on the bay for one.

Hope it's not anybody's we know ;)
Sadly Rob while he may be the salt of the earth type ....there
are plenty out there that would happily have your filling our or
happily remove the wheels from a miscarriage.
IF you have a decent scrappy type bloke he can be worth his
weight in clean copper ;D

Does he get on with his neighbour across the road, C.F. Booth?
Can he ask him if I can have one of those diesel locomotives in
his yard? ;D

If its cheap enough I bet yes it will!!!!
Whats the currency exchange rate for that, 4 legs of pork, 3
cauli's, 2 cabbages and 1 doz eggs & 6 pints of milk?
On the subject of milk, I had some straight out of the cow a
while back, tasted nothing like it, beautiful!

Think when i passed recently he had burtn them up, however i
know he sold a few of the diesel engines to preservation
societies, got more for them that way than scrap value.

There was a 432 in Boothies a couple of weeks before Christmas.
I was trying to get the glass screw in lens off of it however
the guys in the scrappies were having none of it. Putting up
nothing but barriers, everything I said just fell on deaf ears!
Gave up in the end, and just left them.

I got my overdrive from the scrappy too, I removed it from a s3
and took it over to his shed for a price,
He said, "well, they're getting pretty hard to find these days,
so it's got to be £15 I'm affraid". I tried not
to grin and paid up!
