       IIRC they are 8.25x16 on a 109.
       How much are overdrives fetching now? Surely 5x tyres at +/-
       £100 each plus delivery is a significant chunk of that?

       To make any noticeable difference in gearing with tyres you do
       need to get much bigger. As an example, a 7.50x16 shod motor
       does 3500rpm @ 60mph. 900x16 tyres lower this to 3000rpm, a
       Fairey overdrive with standard 750s is lower still at 2700rpm.
       Mich 255/100R16s are running at over £400 each.
       A cheaper option is to change the diffs to 3.54s, Rover types
       are easy, Salisburys less so but a 110 Salisbury axle will have
       a 3.54 diff. Trouble is you'll be overgeared and it won't be a
       nice drive unless you have a Tdi or summat pokier than standard.

       7.50 . 8.25 . 9.00
       All Michelin XZL so as tall as you would expect, most 9.00 tyres
       only stand 34" tall!!
       When new the 7.50 would stand just under 32" .. 8.25 = 34" ..
       9.00 = 37" aka 255.100.16  :thumbs:
