Hazard warning light switch
By: John Aird Date: April 8, 2016, 11:52 am

My 1981 SWB Series 3 has a Hazard warning lights system fitted
with a pull switch (with relay behind) lower dash to right of
the steering wheel. I probably need to replace the switch but am
struggling as to where to source one. The two big LR suppliers
seem to be charging silly money (c.£80) for what seems a basic
switch (with built in light). Any ideas please?

If you cant get hold of a replacement at the right price look on
ebay for a flasher kit i had one fitted before i fitted what you
have now and it worked fine

LR part number is 90575281, lucas equivalent SFB300. they are
around the 30 quid mark on ebay
switches are very robust, very basic mechanical brass contacts.
that said the wiring is very involved, nearly the whole lighting
loom runs to the switch. if you are just trying to get your
hazzards working i would suspect the wiring or the thermal
flasher unit.
in addition, hazard lights are not a legal requirement before
1st april 1986, but if present must be working. When i bought
my 81 series 3 someone had taken the switch out of the centre
console and stashed it in the dash bin, presumably to get
through an MOT

Thanks Darren, have ordered the Lucas switch, for about that
amount. Have Seen the wiring, I know what you mean, complex
spaghetti. Will see how things work out.
