       300 tdi in a series
By: Dirty Girty Date: April 4, 2016, 3:32 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
Anyone out there have any experience of installing a 300tdi in a
Series? Steve Parker is no providing a Kit to move the engine
mounting bracket without the need for cutting mounts off of a
Galv chassis......plus all the other bits and bobs required.
I am contemplating it for the Girty rebuild but wondered whether
       anyone else has any experience....
       Thanks in advance

My stepson Simon has one in his, didnt move the engine mounts on
the chassis just made a plate off the engine onto the chassis
and using a 1" thick ali plate made a remote oil feed for it.
all done in very short time and a series engine can just be
dropped right back in if required but the battery is now under
       the passenger seat.

I presume this kit means you have to stick with the series
engine mounts? I've not had a series with a 300, but the
lightweight I had with a 200 made me certain I'd be using the
mounts off the Disco for my left hooker project - the vibration
with the series mounts was awful.

I too would be interested in hearing more about this, as some of
the 200's in Series that I've seen make a godawful racket and
vibration. The 300 is however a more refined engine anyway
(comparing the 200 and 300 series disgay), and I wonder if
putting a 300 head, pistons and pump into a 200 would cut out a
       lot of the harshness.

From what I can see the Steve Parker kit requires no mods for
the Chassis Engine Mounts. The kit provides a fabricated bracket
that transfers the mounting position for the 300 tdi to the same
mount position as the 2 1/4 or 200 tdi. Therefore you do not
need to hack the mounts off your new galv chassis and re
       weld.....
At least thats what I think. I am more than likely going to go
for this as 200 tdi's are getting a bit rare....
