mine was spotwelded, took about half an hour to drill out

the same time

My thoughts are to remove the rear tub but I get the feeling
that floor removal is preferable?

For me it would all depend on the condition of the floor. If
it's already a bit rough I would change the floor. If the floor
is good, I would be inclined to remove the tub. I would not be
happy to weld blind, and also how will you know you have good
protection on it afterwards?
Rear floor replacement is on my list of wants, as when I got the
109 there was a sheet of 1/2" thick steel covering the rear
floor, lots of nice powdery ness under there when we got it out.

Removing the floor is a pain but the advantages include -
Easy to cut the old chassis rails.
The tub becomes a jig to help you line up the new quarter
chassis.
You can keep the new floor removable to allow easier cleaning of
the chassis, changing exhaust, servicing rear axle and brake
pipes etc
I did a half chassis this way. You need to support the tub at
the back.

I`m getting on well ,having fitted the new rear quarter chassis
by removing the floor. I've fitted parabolics and brought some
procomp shocks. The shocks don't have gaiters as standard.I've
been told it best to fit them without gaiters as they just hold
dirt but this leaves the shaft exposed, what do you think?

My 88 has Procomps fitted, Paddocks supplied them with gaiters,
a one ton I once owned had them fitted without. The one tons
were rustier on the shafts, that's for sure. Personally I'd fit
them.
