Standard spring recommendations
By: PROPERJOB Date: March 16, 2016, 4:50 pm

10 years ago I replaced a knackered pair of springs with some
new ones from Paddocks which are now knackered due to rust
blowing them apart (after not a lot of use), you can guess what
brand they are. Now I could strip them down and repair them but
I was pondering replacing them with some new better quality
springs. I was hoping to stay with standard springs rather than
Parabolics, can anybody recomend a good brand/place to source
them from please?
Thanks

Got my parabolics from GB springs, seem good quality, I'm sure
they do standard as well.

Thanks, I will give them a call as when I looked online they
only had parabolics.

i thought paddocks sold GME springs? or maybe thats a new
development since the old britpart years.
i'm jumping through hoops at the minute with my springs. i
fitted britpart fronts (as in new britpart, allegedly made by
santana in spain to OE specifications) without boring you to
death they arent made to standard specs at all, the leaves are
too thick, U bolts dont fit, it made the rideheight increase by
about 3 inches, standard dampers are too short, and ride is
stiffer. Retailer has got britpart to send out a pair of
replacements which have turned up and have identical issue.
in short, get some GME or Jones springs

A bit of an update:
I phoned GB Springs, they can make up a standard set but a
vehicle set is £500+VAT which is way beyond my budget. Likewise
Jones look nice springs but £150+ a spring. GME seem to get good
reviews so going to give Paddocks a call to order some, I am
sure my old springs were Britpart so hopefully I won't have an
issue with buying from Paddocks again.

I think the ones on LR series are GME as when I spoke to GME
they said they are the supplier to Land Rover. I see LR series
give you 2 options either Genuine or Britpart.

The OE supplier to Land Rover when series vehicles were in
production was Bramber Engineering Co., original springs have
'BRAMBER' stamped above the part number on the bottom leaf. The
company is still trading, as part of Allevard Springs Ltd,
details below. Whether they still make series leaf springs I
have no idea but might be worth a call.

I have no experience with leaf springs and have a few questions
about the lubrication: is it neccessary and when yes which
lubricant? Mine where installed in 2005 in the Netherlands and I
don´t know the brand so I wanIs this license attached t to
replace them in the next time but I need a Operation license
(for the German TÜV). Is this license attached to the English
springs?
Many Greetings!

Are you saying replacement leaf springs need to be TÜV approved
for you to fit them legally in Germany Stephan?
