Are Parobolic springs worth it ?

I will need to replace the springs on the swb I`ve brought. Are
parabolic springs worth it over new standard springs ? Do they
cause issues with any other fitment, brake lines etc. Who makes
the best springs ? Thanks.

I like the ride with my paras (Rocky Mountain) compared to the
old leafs and have the extra heavy duty ones fitted but the
shocks need replacing aswell because of tbe extra lift and
travel mine are 2" plus. GB springs are much cheaper than the RM
ones and you can use standard spring bushes unlike the Rm ones.

All comes down to personale taste, use etc..
We have TI Console & matching Koni's on the Hybrid and love
them. Serious money and to some too soft but we love them.
Go out, weigh your vehicle to get the facts right and talk to
suppliers.
Good hunting !

ive experienced both, day to day, i would say a 88" with paras
drives a bit like an early ninety (before anti roll bars were
added) allot more rolly poly, more compliant, better
articulation (to a point, although thats limited by shock
absorbers)
have to say though i prefer the road manners of 88 on original
leafs, but thats because i spent the previous 20 years in taught
hatchbacks and the firmer ride doesnt bother me

In the past I've found leafs a bit hard. But they have always
been old worn out springs/shocks. I wouldn't be surprised if new
standard spring/shocks gave a reasonable ride.

I like well oiled multi-leafs myself on 88s. The oiling of even
old, good springs makes a world of difference. dogwalk

In my time playing with Land Rovers I found that the only good
springs worth buying were original LR springs. Everything else,
multi-leaf or parabolic, failed in one way or another. Leaves
sagged with replacement multi-leafs but that also happened with
cheap parabolics, even Chris Perfect springs, which people rated
as being a good make, lost ride height over a few years.
Parabolics wore through bushes like they were going out of
fashion and although polybushes are easier to replace they wear
the holes in the chassis itself.
Parabolics are better if you're doing a lot of off-road and
rough greenlanes but multi-leafs are better on the road.
They're all shit one way or another. Save yourself lots of
hassle and money byselling the Land Rover and buying something
more sensible instead. ;D

interesting tech article i was reading the other day.
elliptical springs have a degressive spring rate, that is to say
they get softer the more they are compressed/flattened
if only they could invent something that was very light, very
compact, cheaper to make, lasted longer, had linear spring rate
and didnt have to rub metal on metal in order to function ? ;D
