Is there any diffrence between pre 1980 and post 1980 sets?
I looking to replace a set on the series and I can only find pre
       1980 in blue boxes...

Post 80 has the same bearings front and rear i.e. 3-off pairs
       RTC 3429
Pre 80 has 3 pairs of different bearing apparently

Hmm, annongly mine is an 80 build registered in 81, have no idea
what hubs make up the axles... I use the same bearings on the
front and the back - we're go for post 1980 and see what
       happens.

Scrach that - got my finger out and looked around the web. I
       require pre-1980 bearings.
Pre-1980 inner and outer bearings are diffrent sizes
Post-1980 the inner and outer are the same (large of the two
       sizes)

Are the oil seals interchangeable, eg putting the seemingly
better newer one in place of the older type?
