What's This Then? ('72 SWB 2.25)

Anybody got any ideas what this is attached to my rad? It's
part of the fuel system, so filter? On the far side it runs to
the fuel pump, on this side it runs to the carb.

It annoys me for some reason so if it's non essential I'll
remove it whilst changing the fuel pipes.

The only thing I have seen like it is one of those in line
devices fitted in the fuel line to enable engines that run on 4
star to run on unleaded.

That was a thought of mine as well, but the fixings into the rad
shroud appear moulded in and original. The previous owner was a
bit special, shall we say, so could be anything!

it's not one of those snack oil devices that magnetizes the fuel
- meaning you get better mpg is it?

The fittings onto the rad shroud appear to be moulded in
originals, so I'm not convinced it is an aftermarket / third
party add on.

au contraire ! those mouldings on the radiator shroud would've
had another metal shroud screwed into it. so your device isnt
standard but cleverly integrated. i agree with the others,
maybe one of those vintage fuel catalyst things

The cast iron construction and being attached to the radiator
could be to preheat the fuel, but I would suspect could be a
source of vaporising or air-locking with modern petrol. My
thought was a magnetic device (as appears to be ferrous), but
they were all aftermarket. Was it ever a diesel?
