Worth buying? Or not worth risking breaking your wrist?

Used to use mine all the time, it was great fun at the petrol
station when people thought you were going and then you came out
with the handle to start it. they are dead easy to use and when
the engine is going the handle gets disengaged anyway. I welded
a cone to the dog to make it easier to engage the handle into
it. When you get the hang of using it you can turn the engine
over with one turn with relative ease.

If yours is a petrol engine then I recommend you get one. You
can use jump leads in some situations, but if you are on your
own with a low battery the starting handle will get you going.
The coil needs some voltage to provide a spark so if the battery
is completely flat the handle won`t start it. (I have once used
a torch battery across the coil to get me going). It is your
thumb you need to watch out for if it kicks back against
compression. The handle is also useful for setting tappets and
       other engine turning jobs.

still available new between 10 and 15 quid. part # 218508
if you are lucky the spring clips will still be behind your
front row seats to stow it. actually come to that, check there
first as you might find your standard one :D
