Hi TBL,
I've found that the easiest way to get the gearbox & transfer
box oil in is using a funnel with 1m of clear tubing attached.
Remove the panel under the centre front seat, get one of the
kids to go underneath and hold the end of the tube in the
appropriate hole, while I pour a measured amount of oil into the
funnel.
I'm using Castrol Manual VMX 80w in my S3. It's the proper GL-4
spec and has made my well worn gearbox easier to use. The first
time I changed the gearbox oil, the old stuff was very pretty -
jet black and sparkly!
Cheers,
Mark,

It's useful to have both a rigid and flexible pipe for the gun .
:-?

Wanner grease guns are the best

Plus one for the wanner. Had mine over 50 years now, it has
outlived three Tecalemit transmission oil guns.

As said ^^^ Wanner if you can get one at a reasonable price.
Avoid the really cheap ones like the plague!
If you want to avoid messy filling of the gun, you can get one
that takes grease cartridges
For oil, I use a 500cc syringe like THIS ONE

/>though it can leak from the handle.
I've got one of those for 'emergencies', but a more expensive
steel one for regular use - you can take them apart and tighten
the seal to make them more oil tight though it makes them harder
to push-pull.
It helps to heat the oil - I put the 20l container next to a
radiator overnight.
Cheers,
Robin.

Good tip on warming the oil. It is hard to force through a small
pipe.

I think that I should just add that my Wanner is about 50 years
old, has had a lot of use and is still as good as new. It gets
well lubricated.
