Steering wheel restoration

Hi all, can anyone advise on the best method of filling cracks
in a Bakelite steering wheel?
It's an early triple wire spoke type, the cracks are around the
junction of spokes and rim as normally found.
Also, can it be sprayed once filled?

Well I've not done mine yet.
But a popular method seems to be to file the cracks into
grooves, fill with araldite, sand flat and use plasticote.
I'm sure others will do it differently.

Ah thanks, hadn't thought of using araldite, sounds like a great
idea, guessed standard body filler might crack and fall out.

Did mine with 2 part epoxy glue can't remember what brand,
sanded it smooth then used 2 pack black gloss to paint it all,
no more black stripes across the hands after driving it.

i used araldite and then matt black spray paint then lacquer on
top and it looked brand new when finished. now stays smooth and
does not make a mess on your hands.

Thanks chaps, all good advice. I also need a centre cover for
it, suppose ebay is the best place to look.
