2A, arguably the best looking of all the Series. Great choice
Pete
Good luck with the rebirth

technically its possible it was updated over the years, rotten
bulkhead swapped out for s3, modern dashboard added for creature
comforts.
but then you start thinking why would they have used series 3
door hinges and late option wing mirrors. 1965 iia would've
had silver on black reg plates and no reg plate light, and be on
the drivers side. this plate is reflective, is on passenger
side and has a light like the series 3. why does it have a late
series 3 fog light which isn't a legal requirement for pre 1980
cars. its too detailed an update surely ?
genuinely i love the look of this truck, its my favourite colour
and configuration, hand on heart i'm not one of those bean
counters. what annoys me (or baffles) is the lengths some
people might go to, to save a couple hundred quid a year, if
that sort of cash is make or break you have bought the wrong car
!!

The reason for door hinges could be as simple as they were on
the bulkhead when the swapped it

Shouldn't be too much of a big deal to change it back, there's
an ex-mod "Series 2A" 109 on another series dedicated forum
that's had it done if you need inspiration (it was on here, but
left during one of the toys out of pram episodes).
Anyway, leaving that aside, it looks like a nice vehicle. It's
definitely a bonus to have a proper Land Rover round this neck
of the woods, if only because it seems to be one of the few
things that the demented Thames Valley drivers actually move
over for.

Just remembered about this '1967' 109...

Not much left on it thats of 1967 vintage, but I still love it.

That is a very nice, unmessed with series 3 you have there Pete.
As others have said before getting too involved/attached to it
I'd be attacking the front dumbiron with the angle grinder wire
brush to find the stamped chassis number as Mickp says.
Ringers have potentially huge repercussions and from the photos
that has no link to a 1965 2a other than the identity. The rear
tub isn't series 2a either. It may have been done for road tax
evasion, it may have been done to cover the true identity of a
stolen motor. Who knows, but if the latter you stand to lose it,
and your money.
No offence intended but better to find out now and take the
relevant action against the seller than a few years down the
line IMHO. It may not bother you unduly but it will bother the
authorities if they ever catch up with you.
